Will Seattle get rid of the Glove?
I've been hearing rumors of GP being unhappy in Seattle and expecting to be traded and ESPN has said Sonics might trade him to Indy for like Jamal Tinsley, Ron Mercer, & Johnathen Bender. I think this would work for bother sides. The Sonics would free up cap for 2003 when the all stars become free agents and Indy will no longer be a young team and have two key vets without about 4 or 5 good years left and they'd be East Favorites. Does anyone else agree with this trade. Could you imagine this on 2k3? Pacers would be unstoppable GP bringing it down could throw it down low to O'Neal or Reggie for the trey. Then on defensive the Glove is on you and if you happen to pass him Artest is right there.Tags: None -
Re: Will Seattle get rid of the Glove?
Whenever I've seen a pretty one sided trade being proposed, the team that's being raped is always justified with "Well, it'll clear up cap to get the all stars after this year." This is, there's 29 teams. That means Seattle has 28 other teams to compete with, and a lot of them will have and/or make cap room for all these all star free agents. So what advatage would Seattle have?
They've been mediocre for the past decade, so they don't have success on their side like LA or Sacramento. The climate isn't the most desirable to live in. There's not a real strong black community that's important to a lot of players.
Plus, there's no guarantee any of these all star free agents will even go to new teams. Kidd seems to be pretty happy in New Jersey, and the GM has done nothing but make the team better this offseason. Duncan has said numerous times he wants to stay in San Antonio.
So these cap dumping trades are just dumb. You don't dump cap on something this uncertain.
It's a bad trade. Seattle could get a lot more for Payton. -

I guess the story is that Payton wants to be paid more than $13 million but Seattle won't pay that much for him so he wants to leave. I think that if The Glove went to Indiana, they could be a really good team, but maybe Seattle and he will figure something out...I don't know. I guess we'll see soon enough?Comment

Re: Will Seattle get rid of the Glove?
Truly, this is old news. The glove has been linked in trade talks for about over 3-4 years. And the last I checked, he's still a Sonic. There have been many rumors about him being shipped off. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not. We'll just have to wait and see.Comment
