That's insane. Look at how bad Pierce's game fell away without Walker.

Also, and this is the absolute bottom line , Walkers 14 MILLION dollar contract ENDS at the end of the coming season.

So, instead of having an incredible trade asset (the 14 mill relief)................the Celtics have Raef La Frentz for the next 6 years for about 50 million.

Yep, great trade.

The guy helped carry the C's to the EC Finals, carried the ball up, 5 assists a night. So he shot the 3 ball a lot, so did EVERYONE on the team.

Geez some people forget quickly.

Ok... but the team wasnt getting back to the ECF with that team. And ya Pierce had an off year, but he was barely better the year before, he's been on the decline. DA is bring in guys who will complement Pierce and get him easier buckets. It was accepted that this would be a step back for a year, but I fully expect the C's to be better than they were two years ago this coming season. BTW, check out Pierce's stats in the games LaFrentz played in at the beginning of the season. They were the best games he played last year. LaFrentz + Jiri = much better than Toine and I think Pierce will play better next year in a new system without all the turmoil from last year.

Look, I like the C's and I hope your right. IMO Ainge is a terrible GM. There's just no excuse for taking on RLF's contract. It is one of the worst in pro sports.

And he didn't like Walkers attititude, so he got Ricky Davis? I mean, that just defies belief.

But as I said, the bottom line is Walker was a 14 million dollar trade bait this year. Any GM worth 2 cents should have known that.

14 Mill cap relief is just a gift in todays trade environment. You keep it and you hang onto it for dear life. Trouble brews somewhere? Two all stars fight? Some team wants to blow it up and rebuild? Someone like Phoenix wants to dump The Matrix? Last year, Portland wanted to move Sheed...look what expiring contracts eventually got Detroit.An NBA title!

Meanwhile, the C's have Raef and Ricky on the books forever.

Ricky's contract is actually wicked good for a player of his skill...and Raef's is not as bad as people think. If he produces like he did in the past then its about the same as people of similar production. Look at the contracts given out this year...Raef's is not that bad and I actually like him as a player.
