Allen Iverson and his former coach Larry Brown exchanged some nostalgic words today through the media after the US beat Puerto Rico in Jacksonville today 96-71 without their co-captain.

“They broke a team rule and we are a team,” Brown said. “They paid the penalty. Nobody wanted to embarrass them, and now we’re moving on.”

Iverson claimed he “couldn’t have been more than five minutes late.”

“I’m the captain on the team and to be suspended just for being a couple of minutes late just doesn’t sit well for me,” he said. “I’m supposed to be one of the leaders of the team, and this is not a good look.”

Remember it wasn't just AI...

I think it's fine that they were benched but I do think that if it were only James and Amare then nothing would have been made of it. I also think it could have been kept behind closed doors and Brown could have simply said, 'Look guys, this isn't right. Next time you're late, you don't play' and warned them like that, instead of the way it did get out.

I think it's fine that they were benched but I do think that if it were only James and Amare then nothing would have been made of it. I also think it could have been kept behind closed doors and Brown could have simply said, 'Look guys, this isn't right. Next time you're late, you don't play' and warned them like that, instead of the way it did get out.

AI's the captain though, so when your captain's late more is made about it than if just anyone was...the captain of a team needs to lead by example, IMO

AI's the captain though, so when your captain's late more is made about it than if just anyone was...the captain of a team needs to lead by example, IMO

I don't think so.. LB is just that kind of coach.. he would sit down his own mother if she was late.. he did good

the really sad part of this is that the team's hotel was ACROSS THE STREET from the arena. I'll let that sink in for effect.
