Can you even imagine if this is true?

"Sam Cassell recently saw him play in Houston," said Billups, McDyess' good friend and former Nuggets teammate. "He said he look good. Dice said he feels as good now as he did before he got hurt. I'm really excited for him, being a close personal friend."

The Dice man, back to his best. On the Pistons. That would be insane. Can you imagine their depth if he is the Dice of old. They'd have the deepest front court in the NBA by a mile.

One part of me says "yeah, Billups is his friend and is trying to help him". Fair enough. One part of me remembers the Dice who couldn't get off the ground as a Knick.

One part of me, though, thinks "hey, Joe D is no idiot. And Joes D sure as hell must have seen something to give him a multi year deal".

If he is back to his best, the only negative I could see for Detroit is that Darko is again going to sit on the bench all year.

How many players have you seen hold up to a major knee injury over the course of a 82 game season? Very few....he may play in alot of games but I'm pretty skeptical.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

Noone after that many knee surgeries has ever been back to normal 100% form. Just ask Penny.

            Good point.

Actually, I read a story where a surgeon said Chris Webbers comeback was the best he's ever seen. Which kind of makes it ironic so many people are on his back for being 'soft'. You can imagine how had he must have worked to come back like that.

Sadly, injuries are part of sports. Every player needs luck to avoid them, it's that simple.

First it was Penny, then Stackhouse, Carter, and now Mcdyess. I just hope 'Dyess won't go down that road.

McDyess said the same thing right before his knee gave out in a preseason game 2 years ago. Missed more than 3/4s of the season if not the entire season.

He was beasting though, but he doesn't know how that knee will hold up regardless of how the rest of his body feels.

I wish him well, but he made me cringe everytime he left his feet.

Agree totally. But, as I said, the thing that sticks in my mind is Joe D just gave him a 5 year deal. That's an insane contract IF Joe D had ANY doubts about him being fit.

We've all seen how shrewd Joe is. If he was willing to give Dice a multi year, then you've got to think he has seen something to warrant that kind of confidence?
