I agree that this NBA dream team has it's fair share of problems, but let's face it, they would demolish any NCAA team. Any one of these guys would lead the nation in scoring if they were put back in college.

Back to the topic, though.. how do we fix the dream team?
            Send over the Detroit Pistons.

No offense but that's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. That's like a few years ago when people debated if the 2001 Miami Hurricanes would be able to be the 2001 Cincinnati Bengals. The only major sport to where college kids could be a pro team is baseball, and that would be like maybe a 1 game thing.

There are many problems with this team. I don't blame the players too much, many of them were not on the first selected team. I give them credit for accepting and choosing to play when others had backed out.

I place the blame the powers that be at USA Basketball who picked the players for the team. The bulk of these players are not suited for the international style of play. They have a team full of slashers and above the rim type players, which is good to have in the NBA, where man-to-man is the base defense used. However in international play, those types are not needed, since teams can go zone and force you to shoot over the zone.

Also I blame Larry Brown for letting the opposing team dictate the tempo. These games wouldn't be close if he allowed the team to go uptempo and allowing the players to use their athletic ability to their advantage.

If we're placing blame here, I think there's one big culprit you left out - the phonies who are "too good" and have "too much money" to be supporting our team in Athens. Shaq, Jason Kidd, T-Mac, KG, O'Neal, Vince Carter, Mike Bibby, Ray Allen, all come to mind. Ben Wallace also I thought was supposed to play. I'm sure a few of these guys have excuses (O'Neal and his knee or something), but excuses are like arseholes, everyone's got one, and they all stink. I place the blame on those sissies.

There is no blame to be placed anywhere. We don't need to fix the team. We have a great group of athletes and players on the team who WANT to represent USA. It's not anyone's responsibility or duty to represent their country, so to rag on VC, Shaq, Tmac, etc. isn't right.

I would rather have the guys we have over there anyway. They want to play, and they are a great group of guys. They just need a few more games to gel together, and they will be fine. Their shooting will come, we just need to give them some time. We may not have our best lineup, but I am proud of the guys who are over there anyway representing us the best that they can!

That's the problem with NBA athletes (and probably athletes in general) today. The players today think they are bigger than the game, and that's why they don't go to practice, they don't listen to their coach, and by god, if your only reward for playing basketball is to represent your country, and you don't even get paid, then f--- it.

If not for this country, then there would be no NBA. These shmucks would, for the most part, be visiting your local McDonalds M-F from 9-5. These guys wouldn't be driving around in Bentleys, wearing their bling, signing endorsements, partying and playing a game for a living. I'm sorry if I don't shed tears for the hard life these guys are forced to live, and for the criticism they face when they decline to represent their country.

These players seem to have the viewpoint that, "We don't owe anything to our country, only to ourselves." And that, I find, is a bunch of horse hockey. These guys owe absolutely everything to this country and THAT is where it has gone wrong.

Yeah, I agree 100% with what you are saying. My only point is that if the rest of the guys are bigger than the nation that they should be representing, then I don't want them over there. I would rather have Lebron James, Allen Iverson, and Tim Duncan representing our country. Guys who love the game, and want to represent us. Of course Iverson don't like practice though :y4:

I don't know, I just would rather have guys who want to represent over there, than make a player feel obligated to go.
