To play Devil's Advocate, why even say that last part though?

"This might not be for her". You have to know that something like that would get picked apart, right? Wouldn't be surprised if the league were to fine him for his comments even though on surface, they don't seem that bad.

Pretty accurate on the Clippers:

In this case it was a perfect storm of quick triggers from the officials (not just Holtkamp but the entire crew) and a frustrated Clippers squad that was getting blown out and was whining to the officials as if the people with the whistles were the cause. They weren’t. The Clippers were down by more than 20 by the time the techs came flying, and that has been a symptom of the inconsistent Clippers this season — they complain on court when frustrated.
The Clippers’ style of play is predictable and that makes their margin for error smaller than many teams — if they are not at the peak of their game and executing cleanly top teams can run them out of the building. Which is what the Cavaliers did Thursday night.
Then the Clippers get frustrated and vent at the officials. And some officials have quick triggers — Holtkamp gave a technical to DeAndre Jordan when he yelled a loud swear word after a dunk. It was part of a string of technicals — Matt Barnes got one for grabbing Kevin Love‘s arm at one point, something that was a foul, but not worthy of a technical. Not much later Barnes was ejected for a second technical.
Part of the story should be how the Clippers whine to officials when it’s often about their play. As Paul notes, the Clippers need to work on their composure.

It's the "this might not before her" is what sparked all the extra attention

I personally think that 1) yes, the media is all set to blow this out of proportion 2) Paul didn't mean anything by it.

On the flip side, as much as the Clippers (or any other team) ***** about the refs, you rarely hear them call them out individually, or say something a long the lines that they aren't qualified to do their jobs. With this ref being a woman, it add's a bit extra to it.

Im really not down with the extra sensitivity and feel like a feminist movement is coming but thats another story.


We've heard plenty of worse things said about refs...if theyre going to let this lady go out there then there is no way they need to coddle her...let her take and dish like the rest of them out there.

It was pretty amazing that the entire starting 5 almost plus the coach had techs before the 3rd quarter though.

I just think its one of those things the media is still bored so theyre looking for some next controversy to jump on

That's a partial comment anyway.. people are terrible with how they play around with words.
Of course the refs association is going to back her, but that doesn't mean what she did was right... I mean she is a noob ref. Don't tell me yall thought Violet Palmer was making all the right calls when she first started.

In all seriousness,what would anybody expect the league to say? Of course they're going to back up their Refs as that's what any league would do. Regardless it's painfully obvious they made a mistake.

Even the NFL did that mess when they had Scab Officials out there a few years ago.

I love the heart of this Hornets team. They are 6-3 without Big Al, and 6-1 without Kemba. But, they are 3-11 without MKG. Interesting.

Let's be honest, if the ref had been a male, Paul wouldn't have said, "This may not be for him." He'd have just said he didn't disagree with the techs, explain why, and end it there. Which is what he should have done regardless of the ref's gender.

Just my opinion, though.

If the male ref was a rookie like this one is, Paul very well may have said the exact same thing he said about her.

Too bad you got league pass. Would've been better if you had to "suffer" through it.

While the Raptors record while wearing them hasn't been the best, they're wearing them again tonight, and on ESPN!
