It just seemed that you were making LeBron out to be some saving grace whereas, if Brown gave him more minutes, Team USA would've won. Who knows. All I know is that Brown's substitution pattern was extremely awkward and with LeBron on the floor and every international team playing zone and Larry Brown running the high post through Lamar Odom, LeBron would've probably been regulated to taking jumpshots (ala, Marbury, Jefferson and Wade). That's not his game, so it's hindsight at this point.

Originally posted by wtferrellBigeast, did you watch the games? Or just catch a minute here and there. While it is true, Lebron did miss a few jumpers, he shot 19/32, which is right at 60% from the field. Some guys are going to come in here and say, well the reason he shot so high is because of his dunks.... Okay, point being? Would you rather have a guy in there who is getting steals and fast break dunks, ally-ooped dunks, or would you rather have other guys bricking shots. His 3 pt % was 30%. While that is not great, he hit 3/10. 3 of those that he missed were with 4 or fewer seconds left on the shot clock, and desperation heaves.
In the half court set, LeBron was far from the ordinary. Coach Doug Collins, did an excellent job pointing this out. Every time Lebron was in the game, with a half court offense. He initiated the offense. He was the one who set up the guys. Even if he didn't get the assist, the person he sat up did.
Team USA was at a +6 in performance with Lebron on the floor. So, why did Larry Brown not recognize this? Stoudemire was another big guy who could have came in and made a huge impact. Why didn't he utilize the talent that he had, instead of sticking with Wade and RJ? Wade, averaged 17.5 minutes in the tournament, in which his assist:turnover ratio was 1:1.2? You turn the ball over more than you get assists? Only shooting 37%?
I just want to hear what your opinions are on the situation. You have a few guys, who bring the intensity, defense, and offense when they come in, yet you don't utilize them. My question is, why?

Re: Thoughts on Lebron
Took too many fast jumpers that clanked? Yet he shot better than most guys on the team. I'm not saying he "alone" would have been the saving grace for the team, however they would have been a much improved team on the court. I'm not arguing the fact that if he would have been regulated to take jumpers, that we would have been any better off.
But I have the pleasure of rewatching all of the games on my Tivo :y4:, and when the zone was played, and Lebron was in, he broke it down, by rotating the ball, and making excellent interior passes. Something that none of our other guards could do because of either their size, or their limited knowledge of the zone defense.
When he and Stoudemire were in there, with Iverson, Marion/Odom, and Boozer/Duncan, they were a much better team, and they always got a good look at the basket. His intensity on defense, also spread to the other guys while he was on the floor. I just really feel that had he gotten in the rotation, and more of the minutes given to other guys, that we would have came home with the Gold Instead of the Bronze.
In the first Lithuania game, Lebron comes in, we go up by 10, Lebron goes out, we go down and end up losing.
In the Argentina game. Lebron comes in, scores quick points, we go up by 7. Lebron goes out, we lose the lead, Lebron ends up on the end of the bench, and we lose.
It wasn't just scoring, it was setting up teammates, rotating the ball, and playing a good smart ballgame. But he didn't get the chance.Twitter - WTF_OS

Originally posted by nkhera1plus lebron is an excellent passer, probably the best passer on the team, he sets up plenty of teammates, he should at least be getting 15 minutes a game.
Fsquid, yeah, I know he will have 3-4 more if he wants to play in them, I just wanted to win the gold, and know that he would have made much more of a difference than a few of the players that were out on the court. I just want to us to win, and knew that we had a good chance of winning. I will just wait for Bejiing when we will have an actual coach who plays guys based on abilities, and not by age.Twitter - WTF_OS
