The West is pretty deep, some good match-ups in the 1st. I could see 5-6 diff teams coming out of the west and I wouldn't be surprise. GS, HOU, SA and MEM I can see making it but wouldn't be surprise if LAC or DAL come out of there too. Glad to see AD and Reke in the playoffs hopefully they can make the series interesting!

I don't think the Pelicans have enough for GS but I feel like we can surprise them in the first game and we've been great at home all season. AD is gonna show everyone why he should be MVP. It's a shame Harden/Curry have had such good years.Chelsea FC

It's absolutely crazy how much better AD's home numbers are compared to his away. Wouldn't be surprised to see them steal a couple at home.

Honestly the Pels have zero chance. They'll get swept but Davis will put up monster numbers. Everyone else on that team has to raise their game to the next level for them to take the W's to the limit.Comment

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Im so glad that the Spurs lost and that the Mavs dont have to play them yet again. Houston should be a fun series and Dallas matches up better with them than they do against SA, Memphis, or LA.
Not having Beverley might hurt Houston. Harden is going to have to guard Ellis quite a bit. JET wasnt a plus defender 5 years ago and Prigionni will be torched by Monta. Harden is still going to go off against Harris, Rondo, Barea, Felton, and Aminu but at least the Mavs wont have to put Monta on him much.
Houston will probably win but Dallas has some matchup advantages that will give them a decent chance.Comment

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
I have little faith in the Clippers to win many playoff games because they seriously lack depth and are going to heavily rely on production nightly from JJ/Crawford to have more than just a couple options offensively..
But San Antonio is a somewhat intriguing match up. That might be the one team that they could exploit some weaknesses from. Parker isn't staying with CP3, Jordan should dominate the glass, the spots Kawhi would normally "shut down" aren't big factors for the Clippers anyways. Blake might be hard for Duncan and co to stay in front of. I'm hoping for a good series, though faith in the Clippers is slim.

In the Mavs Rockets series, I expect the Beverly injury to hurt the Rockets since they can only tread out the Jet and Prigioni at the 1 spot. At some point it wouldn't surprise me if the Rockets put a lineup out of Harden at the 1 with 2 wings out there like Ariza and Brewer. If Rondo has a big series, I expect Dallas to win. I expect Rondo to have a big series so my prediction is ...
Mavericks in 6.
Golden State will take care of the Pelicans. The only way I see this series going past 5 is if Holiday or Anderson have a really good series to complement Anthony Davis.
Warriors in 5
In the Grizzlies Blazers series, I expect Memphis to wear down Portland and defend the 3 point line very well against a team that emphasizes the 3. That combined with Portland injuries to their wing players should result in the Grizzlies taking the series.

Monta hasn't been shooting well lately. If he keeps playing poorly the Rockets have an 5-6 game series victory.Throw up the X!

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
Golden state in 5- I am only even going 5 because I think AD will have one crazy game where he leads them to a win with like a 40 point 15 rebound 5 blocks or something game.
Huston in 7- I think this should be a good match up but really most of the west in unlike the east.
Spurs in 7- Before the year be gain I only had 2 teams in the west I thought could get to the finals and that was spurs and clippers now I have to add golden state as they are much better then I thought they would be. But back to the spurs and clippers I think this is going to be a very very close series but in the end spurs are more deep.
Grizzles in 7- I think the grizzles over achieved as they have one of the worst benches in the NBA and I think they should have been more like a 8th seed or something when you look at there roster. Trailblazers with some of the movies they made in the offseason and during the season I would put them as a championship caliber team but with out Johnson and maybe afflalo heard he is going to be out for at least game one I think that will be to much to over come for blazers.Comment

Really, really like Harden at the 1 if Rondo gets big minutes though. Do they actually go to that often at all though?Comment

Harden guarding 6'9 slashing Parsons? I don't see that as a good matchup for Houston either. Harden might be able to match up with RJ though.Last edited by ZB9; 04-17-2015, 10:15 PM.Comment

Re: Western Conference Playoffs - 1st Round Discussion Thread
true. hopefully the fact that there is more rest between games in the playoffs will help Monta. He's always been better at attacking the rim more than jacking up shots imo.Comment
