I just don't think there can be a middle ground. It's either they take it away or modify it.
There is one thing you want to avoid in life, it's the hack'a montages.

Last night was brutal and tbh, even as a NBA die-hard I couldn't hack it.

What should be a good entertaining series featuring 2 high pace teams is now borderline unwatchable (albeit some is due to Mchale's lack of calling a single play).

I'm all for the side of the argument that's "these guys need to be able to hit free throws" but it's just boring bball watching the Rockets play permanent offense.

Im not sure I ever say Ernie Johnson bothered by play but he was last night. McHale used that as his 1st half strategy and even though it blew up in his face it brought even more negative attention to it.

lol, I don't think Mchale had a gameplan outside of Hack-A-X. When that didn't work, he, and his team, mailed it in. I'll be so glad when this garbage is out of the game.

So you finally turned hahaha. Which free throw was it? The 20th are the 30th FT.

It cracked me up in the Dallas series when the Mavs intentionally fouled Duhwight in like the 2nd quarter and McHale tried to be a badass and return the favor by immediately fouling Rondo. They did foul him but, minor detail, they weren't in the bonus yet. So Dallas just inbounded the ball again and play went on like normal.

What happened in the LAC/HOU game is laughable... but so is the final score. I'd say that game is more reason to leave things be. What coach worth his paycheck would follow that strategy, considering the result?

Umm Kevin McHale, seeing he hasn't realized that defensively the Clippers are killing the Rockets in the half court. But yes, let's slow the game down and allow LA to get set on defense. Smfh

I would absolutely hate going through that as a Rockets player. McHale is killing his own damn team's rhythm, it's got to be tough to get going when you're always stopping for a minute to stand around and watch DJ shoot FTs.

It probably caused more harm than good even though DJ shot a poor percentage as hoped. Just taking things too far.

Yeah that was pretty sad to watch a team that gets off on running and shooting 3s try to slow the game down in the 1st quarter. Only to be tied after 1. Then to keep doing it.

The players are even dumber for actually fouling. After a while I would just say nah coach this isn't working. Even if he missed ALL of them they still would have lost by 30. Clearly Kevin will be fired after this season. He can't get his team over the hump.

While we're on the subject of dumb coaching. Kerr isn't doing a good job of making the same playoff adjustments they accused Mark Jackson of not making.

I read somewhere that the Clippers are 19-2 whenever the opposing team intentionally foul DeAndre.

That's a great stat. I saw the number last year on Hack-a whatever. It doesn't work at all. I think it was 2% of teams win when doing it.

Hack'a is a short term gamble wich can pay off once in a while but overall it seems like it's not worth it. As a coach you shoudn't sub one of your best player ever because the other team is hacking him. Even if he's a below 60% free throw shooter he'd need to be in some kind of slump to make it an effective strategy considering you also prevent your team from getting fastbreak opportunities, taking your players/crowd out of the game etc.

D'Antoni as a Lakers coach never pulled Howard when he was getting hacked, he even laughed about it like : Yeah it's good, it gives our old guys some rest. He was right about that.
