Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
This might have already been answered before I got to it.
The max is a percentage of the salary cap. That's why the 90 million jump is crazy. Guys that sign next year will make more than those that sign this year. There's potential that a lower quality star could make much more than a superstar.
Anyway, it goes by years in the league.
0-6 years = 25% of cap
7-9 = 30%
10+ = 35%
A team with Bird Rights can also offer 7.5% increases every season for an additional 4 years (5 years total). While a team with non Bird Rights can only offer 4.5% increases.
So it's hard to say how much LeBron will be making. We just know that it can be 30% of whatever the cap is. If it's $90 MM as being expected, then he will have a starting salary of $30 MM with 4.5% increases (he can't do 7.5% because Cleveland wouldn't own his Bird Rights).Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Man I'm just gonna be blunt with you. We're not signing Thompson, Lou ain't coming back, and no one's giving up jack **** for TRoss.
Fantastic Carroll signing. He's a perfect fit on the team and exactly what we needed. Now Millsap signed and Derozan out and this offseason is perfect.
And like I mentioned before, if we're not signing Lou,who will be backup SG? What other options are available? Shumpert,Crawford are only other good options I can think of. Though Crawford is prob gonna get more than Lou. And Shumpert is RFA,so Cavs could match....
Starting PF,backup SG and backup C are only needs left I think. Ross alone won't get much, but what if it's Ross + less favorable of our 2016 1st picks? Couldn't that get Raptors something? There's alot of backup C options in free agency we could get for cheap. So Ross would have to be traded in a deal for a starting PF(though if his value, even with a 1st added on,isn't high, that won't be likely?) or a backup SG.Last edited by Majingir; 07-01-2015, 11:42 AM.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Who will be a PF option then? Millsap possibly going to Orlando. Thompson staying in Cleveland then. Aldridge to SA. So West is really only good PF option left? I'd take Amir over the other possible alternatives once Thompson,Aldridge,Millsap,West are off the board.

I probably wouldn't be worried about backup shooting guard lmao"Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Though Casey likes playing a 8 man rotation,so maybe we get a backup C/PF who could pick up big minutes off the bench? So he plays either with JV(when Patterson is sitting) or plays with Patterson(when JV is sitting). And on rare occasions, plays with James Johnson or Carroll(since both those guys can play PF abit)Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
You must be with a team for 3 consecutive seasons.
If a team trades you, that new team retains those Bird Rights. Which is why you see teams try to acquire expiring contracts. They get to keep the Bird Rights like the Heat did with Goran Dragic.
You can play on consecutive one-year deals as well. Just needs to be with the same team or be traded.
If you're waived, cut, whatever, you lose your Bird Rights.
LeBron lost his because he's only been with Cleveland for one year."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

The Spurs' Hatewagon only has room for 2 people and that's me and King. We cannot allow these dudes to have another 20 year stretch where they're in the playoffs while the rest of us have to watch our teams constantly struggle just to make it more than 1 year. Unless you don't have a team and just follow certain players around in which you don't fall in this category.
24 has been living good far too long and I for one am sick of it!

Oh and Demarre Carroll is officially a traitor and should be booed by every single person that's not from the country above us.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
AC,if Ross can't be dealt for anything valuable, then what about moving him to SG? That was his original position before being moved to SF cause of Raptors having DeMar. It could be good for Ross, finally getting to play his natural position again. And won't have to be matched up against the starting SFs of the NBA like he had to the past 1-2 seasons. So it could help out alot.
And if Ross breaks out this season,Raptors could afford to let DeRozan go elsewhere.Comment
