Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Either way I'd love to see West on either of those teams.
West, the 34-year-old who was an All Star while with the New Orleans Hornets in 2008 and 2009, would have to take a veteran's minimum deal to play with the Warriors ($1.49 million annually) and would likely take a significant pay cut to play for the Spurs. But as he told WTHR's Bob Kravitz in an interview on Wednesday, he is hell-bent on playing for a contender.
"At this point in my career, it's all about winning," West said. "And again, I don't want to be in a position where we're just fighting to make the playoffs, I want to be in a spot where we can legitimately taste the finals."
No better way, then, than to join one of the NBA's past two champions.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Maybe from time to time, but the assumption is Monroe will be the starting center.
PG: MCW
SG: Middleton
SF/PF: Jabari
SF/PF: Giannis
C: Monroe
Vasquez, Mayo, Henson, Zaza, Bayless, etc. off the bench (though they need to trade two or three guys to get down to 15 I think).NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Maybe one of those teams could work out a S&T with Boris Diaw or David Lee.

West is basically saying he doesn't want to work hard. He just wants a free ride. We call that being a [name removed. At any rate, we have Vasquez, Bayless, and Ennis (for now anyways; we need to make a trade I think) to spell him.NFL: Bills

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Yeah, I think that's the general assessment of the team. I think MCW will pan out fine, but we'll see. This is a big season for him; first offseason he's had to work on getting his shot to be feasible. He shot it well from mid-range with us last year, and before he hurt his shoulder at Syracuse, he was regarded as a great shooter (but you know how those high school scouting reports don't always work out).

Gotta say it. That quote from West of wanting to play on a team that can taste the Finals is more off putting to me than a guy wanting to form a Big Three to have help to try and win a championship.

West has put in more than enough time on bottom feeders and has played his *** off through all of it. Can't fault the guy for wanting to go out on top.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Not sure how you get this out of what he said? We see this all the time. Guys in the twilight of their career who have never sniffed the Finals want that opportunity. I don't see anything wrong with that.

If you think a team is going to the Finals, they don't need you. So you're there for the free ride.

So yeah, I'm definitely getting that from him. I'm sure he will work hard (I was being facetious regarding that part), but dude said, in his own words: I want to play for a team that doesn't need me."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Yeah, there's a big difference between a guy saying he doesn't want to waste away the rest of his career on a team like the Knicks who have no hope of even making the playoffs or a team that will be a bottom seed in the playoffs if they get there with winning a round or two being considered overachieving for them as opposed to a guy leaving a conference finals staple to go team up with 3 other superstars to try to superteam their way to a championship while crippling the conference they'll be in along the way.Comment
