Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
OJ I dont care about your stats.
The point is Tyson Chandler's defense has netted someone a championship and DeAndre's hasn't
When he learns not to get owned by guys like Marc Gasol and Draymond Green consistently then we can have a conversation.
Stop trying to use numbers to convince me this guy is some kind of monumental upgrade defensively when he couldn't stop Tim Duncan from pulliing the same move on him over and again.
You mean all those off balance awkward shots Duncan hit? He was playing great straight up defense and not fouling. Duncan hit tough shots. He did the same against Bosh when Bosh was playing great defense on him, it's Tim Duncan.
It's not like he killed him anyways. He averaged 17&11 to Jordan's 13&13
Again what did Tyson do this year?
My stats mean nothing but you using one series as a body of work that represents the last two seasons now is more logical?
And Draymond Green?????
The last time he played Gasol in a playoff game was 3 years ago before the Clippers had Doc. Jordan was pretty much useless under Del Negro and played almost half as many minutes as he does now. Everyone knows how much better he played when Doc actually molded him into a defender. But I guess what happened 3 and 4 years ago is the best indication for what's happening next year? Nothing's changed I guess.
Deandre and Tyson head to head the past two seasons.
Deandre: 13.3ppg, 17.3rpg, 2bpg
Tyson: 10ppg, 12rpg, 1bpg
Both verse Marc last year:
20ppg, 7rpg - Gasol
7.25ppg, 10.74rpg -Tyson
14.25ppg, 7rpg - Gasol
10.5ppg, 14.5 rpg - DJ
Both verse Duncan last year:
9.3ppg, 11rpg -Duncan
8ppg, 10.3rpg - Tyson
18ppg, 10.5rpg - Duncan
12.5ppg, 15.25rpg - DJ
Both against Anthony Davis:
30ppg, 12rpg - Davis
8ppg, 6.6rpg - Tyson
26ppg, 7.5rpg - Davis
10ppg, 17rpg - Jordan
Again it's not even just stats, Tyson is getting older and slower. Deandre runs the floor better, he rebounds better, he blocks more shots, he hedges better, covers more ground defensively.. None of that is stat based.. But still somehow less relevant that things that happened 3+ years ago.
If Carlile can take an above average defender who had never made a defensive team at the age of 28 and molded him into one of the best help defenders in the league, why can't he do the same (or more) with a guy who's two years younger, already coming off a defensive first team, who's a better shot blocker and a better defensive rebounder?

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
He played with the best defensive point guard in the league. And Dallas was a bottom 5 defensive team last year. So without Chandler is was an even bigger blow. Blake > Dirk, Barnes > Parsons, Monta and JJ wash.

What does team success have to do with anything lol. Stats are way more relevant when comparing two players head to head.GT: assassinK24Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Lets not forget this is the offseason thread. Throwing out empty stats is a distraction from the topic at hand to bed honest
If you wanna argue just go in the off topic thread.
We're all fine and dandy until someone wants to come in here playing bootleg analytics. Lets stick to signings and what they bring.Comment
