I feel like this happens a lot but still hilarious especially since it's the Spurs. Obviously they would have Van Exel's rights just to have them.

In cases like McGrady, it's basically just a technicality that allows teams to stay over the cap, which allows them to keep their exceptions while still having the financial flexibility to renounce the cap holds at any time.

In other cases, it's a way to prevent teams from abusing bird rights. For example, without cap holds, if a team put together a super team with four max players that all became free agents at the same time, they could use all of that cap space and then use bird rights to re-sign their stars, resulting in ridiculously stacked rosters.

Cap holds makes it so that those max guys still count against the cap as long as the team plans to use their bird rights on him.

In some cases, these cap holds help (example this year: Kawai Leonard only had a cap hold of like $6 million or something, which allowed San Antonio to sign Aldridge before using their bird rights to sign Leonard. Same happened with Milwaukee being able to get Monroe before re-signing Middleton).

In this particular case, the Spurs had to finally renounce their ancient cap holds to fit Aldridge onto the team.

Bruce Jenner's back? I kind of like at as long as he's not seeing a ton of minutes. Although, he did have some decent games last year (specifically during the stretch were AD was hurt). I'm interested to see what he can do in Gentry's offense.

Now they need to go ahead and lockup Norris Cole and hopefully get K.J. McDaniels as well.

I know Brooklyn wasn't going to be winning a championship as constructed, so DWill leaving means nothing. If Joe gets traded we'll be right where we were in 2010. A Lopez lead team that won't win more than 25 games. Boston fans, get ready for a top 5 pick next draft
Am I trolling? Am I serious? Did Dennis Green and the Cardinals really "let them off the hook"? What about the children? Find out next week

Raptors made Biyombo signing official, alot earlier than people thought. Sounds like they wanted to wait abit longer so that they could spend some extra money before signing him, but now that he's signed, they won't be able to do so. Which likely means their FA spending is done now.

Guess Cuban has to cancel his flight to the Congo now lol. I wonder if that had anything to do with Raptors locking up Biyombo so much quicker than they wanted(cause of the DeAndre situation, and seeing how a player could back out just like that. Biyombo 3M contract was too good to be true,so get him locked up before something happens like someone steps in and offers him 1 year,10M or something.). They sent out contract all the way to his home in the Congo, when the original plan was just to wait for him to come here and sign it, so something had to have happened that made them rush this stuff.

He can defend a bit and is a pretty decent screener. I thought more teams would be willing to sign him on the cheap with increasing cap
