Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Williams getting all that money from his original deal, and will prob sign close to his true value with Dallas as well.
At a time like this, he should take a big paycut in order to help the team out, cause he's getting all that money either way.Comment

If only more guys were like the Spurs players. Willing to take paycuts in order to win.

I just hate when people say that athletes should take pay cuts, it's up to them. Are you taking a pay cut at your job? It's a weird mentalityOriginally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

@HowardBeck: Other key thing: By buying out/stretching Williams contract, Nets will have $39 mil cap room next summer, per source.

NFL and NHL salaries I find are good. MLBs are way out of hand and now NBA will be going on that level too with this cap increase.Comment

It's not about what you can afford, it's about what you can get. Why would you take a paycut when your next contract can make another generation of your family secure?Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
The whole idea of paying a player what they're worth gets skewed by the fact that the NBA has a salary cap. You don't see players taking paycuts in baseball, for example.Fan of:

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Next contract? I'd think a single years salary for most players can take care of the next generation of their family already. At least assuming they have proper financial management and don't just waste it like a number of former players in various leagues have done.Comment

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
That's diff, you can't really afford to take at a regular job. I'm sure someone who made 100M+ in their career can afford to take a 5-10M paycut for a year or two. Especially if the reason is because you wanna win. Players getting alot of money off merchandise sales already too.

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
I guess, I'll choose the family though lol. A lot of these guys come from nothing, you gotta make sure that no one in your family ever has to go through that again. And the owners aren't hurting for money. But my favorite sport is baseball anyway, I hate salary caps. The players should be making exactly as much as they can get, just like everyone else in the world at their jobs. I hate the idea of a "max" contract, LeBron should be getting paid like ****ing Christiano Ronaldo with the money the owners make off of him.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

Re: 2015 Offseason Thread
Why can't a player get paid AND win at the same time though?
We want these athletes to get as most as they can but when they do get it, they're called being selfish. That makes no sense.
It's the FO's job to create that flexibility for the team to get better, not the player.#RespectTheCultureComment
