It's tough for Rose to get those foul calls because when he does drive he just uncontrollably hurls his body into defenders.. He always has, and wiggles his way around to avoid contact. A lot like Westbrook. He never just lets the contact come to him and take it up.

Yep from your pictures I see 3/9 from the restricted area.....just like what's been reported
Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau expressed his displeasure after Wednesday's loss with the fact that Derrick Rose failed to get to the free throw line for a third straight game.

Lol i see the error of my wording. My bad 24th. 5 for 18 from the paint. Still all those shots coming from the inner FT circle and in. It's too early lolol
I just don't want to hear he hasn't attacked.Last edited by JODYE; 05-08-2015, 10:31 AM.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Who's talking about what's been reported? He was talking about OSU saying Derrick hasn't been attacking the paint and only shooting jumpers as why he doesn't have any free throw attempts.Comment

All good 13, I said drives instead of shots as well, so that may have had something to do with it.
He's definitely been getting shots up in the paint....about 10 of those were his patented pull up floaters though...
Id say about 2-3 of the remaining shots you could make a case for...Comment

Yeah I ****ed up and misworded though lol
Still doesn't change the fact that he has indeed been attacking. He's taken a lot of bad jumpers, but he's definitely been attacking the rim too.Cubs | Bulls | Dolphins | 'Noles

Re: Eastern Conference Playoffs - 2nd Round Discussion Thread
If James Harden can consistently get the bull**** foul calls he gets every night, then I'm not trying to hear nothing about Derrick Rose "uncontrollably hurling his body into defenders." Reggie Miller and Kevin Harlan just spent about 10 minutes of commentary Wednesday night talking about Harden hurling himself to get calls and he did it while they were talking and got his usual call. I need to hear something better than "he hurls himself into defenders."
I agree, I hate the calls Harden gets... But he stays in control and that's why he gets them.

That doesn't mean a foul shouldn't be called when he does get fouled, or that I agree with trying for the foul for the sake of it. But I think that does make a difference in the calls. Wall is the same way... I hope he "grows" in that sense where he knows how to read the defender when driving and get a better idea of when to "create" a foul.
Then again, when all the quick guards start doing it, we'll have a thread on how the league needs to change the rulesComment

Harden tries to get fouled... that's the biggest difference. Wade was the same in his younger days. I feel like Rose tries to score, either avoiding contact or initiating it with the intention of scoring.

Exactly.. I feel like most of the time Rose does get contact it's because someone beat him to his spot. He usually isn't looking for the contact, but rather trying to score.. By that time he's basically jumping into a guy who's vertical, which is very rarely called a foul.
He also seems to try and avoid contact and settles for lots of acrobatic finishes and floaters.. Maneuvering his way around swinging arms and extra contact.
Not that there is anything wrong with how Rose attacks the rim, it just isn't the type of plays that are going to yield a blown whistle. Westbrook was the the same way, though he's gotten better at letting his body take a contact and while he focuses on finishing through it to get the call. Rose just hasn't ever made that adjustment yet, he'll take the floater or triple clutch finish. Which like I said is fine, just not going to yield many whistles.
