You always say that man but Morey was also the GM of a Rick Adelman (who he hired) coached team as well. There really is 0 proof that Morey forces his strategy on the coaches. The idea that if the Rockets acquire say LMA they won't let him shoot Mid-range shots is just wrong though, Harden has taken plenty of those shots all year.

This still doesn't excuse how dependent the offense is on Harden. People will trash Harden but the Rockets come and go as he does because the offense is basically James Harden at the top of the key. Slash inside for a layup or kick out for a 3. That's basically the offense. Either that or post up Dmo or Dwight. The emergency option is the Brewer fast break.

The Rockets use the least amount of screens of all NBA teams which says all you need to know about how they are being coached or how they are failing to execute a NBA offense.

Even if their priority is on 3s (It is, mostly because of it being Harden dependent) they would not be the first team to do so but have the ugliest way of actually getting 3 point shots. Spurs, Nash Suns, Mavs also take a lot of 3s but how they get them is not just some ISO slash and kick.

That's been the Mchale offense for YEARS. When we had Lin and Parsons with Harden they would all just take turns slashing and kicking out. Lowry and Dragic was the same way.

Morey's failure is not analytics (since most of the league uses it, especially the spurs.) it's the hiring and extending of Mchale.

McHale runs the "Motion Offense" of that's what you want to call it. The only problem is we have few of any set plays other than Harden-Howard high screen and roll. That and the fact that he makes damn near 0 adjustments until it's usually too late.

And for the nobody is praising McHale. I just pointed out a philosophy that's flawed that they've definitely looked hard at. I'm sure they didnt want to fire McHale as soon as he lost his daughter.

I thought it was free lance offense, not motion. Cuz if it is motion offense, mchale hasnt watched enough of the spurs. Cuz there the master of the motion offense.

lol yep it's supposed to be the motion offense yep. KJ never played either, even when he was healthy he never played. Another issue with Mchale, his rotations are set. It's like he's playing NBA2k with the CPU handling his rotations.

I guess all I'll say is the GM is head of personnel hiring and this falls on Morey. He has to hire a real coach again like Adelman. Yep, we been calling for his Mchale's release for awhile now. The offense never looks better and the defense looks good in spurts but never consistent.

The only excuse McHale has is that Dmo was a pretty huge reason for the record and I'll say he's the Rockets 3rd best player. Missing him is huge but that does not excuse losing to LAC with CP3 out and getting blown out last night like that.
