    Re: 2015 Summer League Thread

Yeah, his passing is better than I expected given he had something like 42 assists in 1,000 minutes in Europe.

He definitely moves his feet on D and helps pretty well, he did a good job a few times last night rotating on Russell and Clarkson and went straight up (that foul they gave Clarkson was a bad call but whatever). The regular season will be a different story though, opposing slashers are going to kill him with the "shoulder into the chest to create space" stuff. Though adding strength will reduce/eliminate that concern in due time.

True, but Galloway had extra tunnel vision last night. When he's on the court they aren't giving him many touches, that's all.

The FT thing is a nice surprise, didn't think he'd get there so often even if it's just SL.

I enjoyed Grant and Kirk last night.

Russ seems a little lost out there. May take awhile to fit into the 24sec shotclock pace.

and dude, what the **** is Randle running and running and sprinting all over the court trying to point forward and losing the ball like two or three times on the third period? smh

          So.

Can anyone tell me why teams are doubling Towns in the Summer League?

Is he really that good offensively right now?

All that's doing is showcasing his ability to pass out of double teams, which is really well developed for a rookie.

Looks like they're trying to make Bruno a 3pt shooter or something. Though hasn't worked out so far. 4/16 in past 2 games!

Biggest surprise has been G-Norman Powell(their 2015 2nd round pick). Sure it's just summer league, but in 3 games, he has .595FG%,19.3PPG,4.7RPG,1.7SPG,1.3BPG. Not bad for a guy they got in the deal with Vasquez. He's the 2nd round pick in the 1st + 2nd for Vasquez deal.

Anyway, missed the game today, will see if I can watch it somewhere later. Good to see some promise. Summer League really does help. Tony Snell carried over what he was doing in the SL to the regular season for sure.

              LOL.

You know darn well that McDermott is trash city. I said last year that his defense is awful. That'll never change. He'll be a bum off the bench that hits some 3's. He's a glorified Scalabrine.

Hey don't compare the greatest player in NBA history to Doug McDermott.

And now we officially have it. The biggest over exaggeration in OS history.

                    Re: 2015 Summer League Thread

I've only caught bits and pieces of summer league action so far, but these are my take aways.

LaVine, Clarkson, Smart, Hood, Exum are all playing like guys who got lots of meaningful minutes in the league last year. Kinda expected I guess but it's good to see guys who should be better than most guys out there actually playing better than most guys out there.

Aaron Gordon to me is far and away been the best player in summer league. Nobody has been at his level as a two way player, his shot is surprisingly good and we already knew he could attack well. He's dominating the glass, he gets a few assists, he gets steals, he blocks shots.. This may or may not translate to real games but he's been an all around stud.

Myles Turner IMO has been the best rookie. I always thought he had some of the highest upside out of the class but I thought it would take him a few years to reach his potential because I saw him disappear in so many college games. I really think the spacing in the NBA is going to cater to his style of play, I think he might even be a dark horse for ROY of Indiana gives him enough minutes.

Seth Curry is scoring like crazy, just as he did in the D League, and Drew II has arguably the best combination of defense, 3 point shooting, and playmaking of any PG in the summer league.. At this point I'm convinced the Pelicans should roster them both and trade away Holiday's contract. Go ahead and start Cole and let Curry and Drew be the rotation guards. They are better with Cole on the court anyways. And they need to shooting those two bring.

I only watched about half of the Lakers/Wolves game. Russell and Townes both looked solid but nothing great. Same with what little I saw of Okafor. I do think it's somewhat humorous to see Russell getting so much praise here as a passer, I believe someone even called his playmaking "2nd to none", yet he's averaging about 3 assists to nearly 7 turnovers a game lol. Same as Town's over praised passing out of a double team, also averaging more turnovers than assists. Not that summer league is any type of true indication of how these guys will play as rookies, but lots and lots of hype and "great" this or "great" that over pretty average play thus far.

                      I agree with your breakdown.

Though I think it's a lot harder for a passing first guard to impress right away especially if they have to run that stupid princeton. The offense the lakers run is atrocious.

Russell would look a lot better if all they ran all game was high p'n'r.
