It actually reminds me of the hockey divisions, and like hockey it's going to piss people (me) off whenever a weak division winner gets a 3 seed over a runner-up in a much stronger division. For instance, Indiana and Detroit are the top two teams in the East (just like last year...we all know it), but the team that comes in second is the 4 seed behind lesser division winners. Does anyone know if the NBA plans on re-seeding after the first round so in that scenario the #1 seed would actually be rewarded and get to play a division winner with a worse record? Probably not. See...pisses me off.

In all the rounds, matchups are determined by seeding, while home court advantage is determined by wins. So if the 6th ranked team in the 1st round has more wins than the 3rd rank team, the 6th ranked team gets the home court.

It happened this year in the 2nd round when New Jersey played Detroit. New Jersey came 2nd because they won their division, but had fewer wins than Detroit and had to go on the road.

Philly...playoffs? SYKE philly will suck bad this year they need o start rebuilding and washington MIGHT make it but the Cavs have the best shot out of the weaker teams in the east. wait, u said boston 2??? lol nah they wont make the playoffs either

Lol at cavs making playoffs and not boston, the C's are easily the best team in the atlantic division, only NY comes close, and they will have some chemistry problems at first....Why dont you back up your opinions with some facts or at least educated guesses.....Why will philly suck? dalembert played pretty well towards the end of the year, they have good young players in willie green and kyle korver, Ai will be back, they should be closer to the 8 seed, thats my bad....

I'd put milwaukee, NJ, Orlando, hell, id put atlanta in the playoffs before the cavs. its just not happening....

Well, if u say so. Celtics will NOT make the playoffs. Just because they your fav team(im assuming) dont mean they good. I dont have anything against paul pierce they just are not good anymore, they dont have the veteran leadership anymore. PP is a good O player but the celtics defense sucks. With those rookies and sophmore players STARTING it wont make things much better. Philly will suck hard because last year they had chemistry problems and this year will be no different, becuz AI doesnt want to play in Philly anymore, maybe the new coach might change that tho. I forgot about orlando but they wont do much better either they might win about 30 games and the bucks were a surprise last year. Hawks?! Ha no comment. Like I said Cavs. I watched basically all there games last year because I wanted to c is Lebron could live up to his hype, and he did. He can lead a team, he just cant play point. The cavs had 1 of the best records after the allstar break(after they got McGinnis) minus loosing 7 games ina row. Now that they have team chemistry with McGinnis runnin point and Bron either at SF or Guard and a solid PF in drew gooden ALONG with an ALL STAR Center in Z they have the best squad out of the weaker teams. Dont forget about Eric Snow and Luke Jackson(i think thats his name) commin off the bench, all they need to work on is Defense because there offense is set. Oh yea NEW JERSEY? Nah Kidd is the best PG in the league but not even HE could take the nets somewhere with the team they got. An overated RJ No K Mart and No shooter in Kittles. BUST!

Ha...drew gooden a solid Pf? get out.... Paul Pierce, Gary Payton, Jiri Welsch/Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, Raef Lafrentz...im sorry, did you say something about rookies starting? Right now, Pierce is better than bron, Payton is as good as mcginnis, and Blount/Lafrentz are as capable as Gooden and Z (you say allstar center like thats meant something in the east, Magloire was an allstar too, doesnt mean hes real good)...add ricky davis, delonte west, al jefferson and tony allen off the bench, THATS a team......Cavs also had Boozer last year ..... not sure 'bout philly's whole situation, but I could that say half the things you said are wrong.....lol at talking about teams you dont know...

The Celtics are a completely different team with a new coach and new mindset going into the season, their defense wasnt up to snuff last year because they were in transition, and were caught in between playing obie-ball and the kind of ball ainge/carroll wanted played.....The celtics are easily the better team...lol at talking bout Celtics rooks and then upping luke jackson for the cavs....

the only thing that the new divisions change is that the 3rd best division winner in each conference will get an easier first round opponent than they would have gotten in the old format. Other than that, they still play 82 games, teams with losing records will make the playoffs, and you play teams in the other conference twice and all but three teams in your conference 4 times (play the other three 3 times)

Other than that, they still play 82 games, teams with losing records will make the playoffs, and you play teams in the other conference twice and all but three teams in your conference 4 times (play the other three 3 times)
