What are you first NBA memories?
OG, checking in. First basketball memories are watching George Gervin and the Spurs (the Bruise Brothers!) playing playoff games in late 70s with my big brother at 11pm at night. The NBA was so crappy back then, that they didn't even show playoff games on live TV, they were on Tape Delay after the news (SRS).

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
I didn't start watching until about 1992 when I was 6. Starting with watching the Bullets on HTS(now known as CSNWashington), the Hawks on TBS when they used to air all of their games and of course watching the Bulls on NBC.
Ahh the glory days.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
Crazy to think though that my interest in nba and nhl got a huge bump, simply cause i got their pc games in a cereal box. Don't know why that promotion existed, but ea sports pc game for like $3 in a cereal box lol. If not for that, who knows if I'd like sports as much as i do.
I gotta find those pc games again one day just to play it.Comment

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
Forgot about NBA Jam 99. I played the heck out of that at my friends place before I had a console. Sidenote: Is Keith Van Horn the worst cover athlete ever?
I have some loose memories from the late 90s but never really paid much attention until probably around 98. For the next few years I promised my pre-teen self I'd try to watch more basketball each year. Didn't have cable but did have internet so spent a lot of time downloading Vince Carter and Kobe Bryant clips from Morpheus, WinMX, and Napster.
Videogames were/are responsible for a large part of my NBA interest and knowledge as well. Spent countless hours in NBA 2k1 when I got a dreamcast.

In terms of main cover athletes, maybe. But in his defense, he was on all rookie team and in 98-99 was one of highest scoring players in nba.
All time, all versions though, worst cover athlete(this actually happened. Yuta Tabuse on Japan cover of nba live)

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
One of my first real memories of the NBA was that Scottie Pippen was from Arkansas (my home state) and just so happened to be on the same team as my hero as a young baller, MJ obviously.
I always remember my dad being infatuated with Dr. J, and my great uncle with Dave Cowens. I guess that's how my love for the history of the game grew at a young age.
I can still remember every "Jordan moment" that made me jump out of my seat my dad would always say "The Doc used to do that". It always irritated me that he was rarely impressed lol.
And my uncle would always stress that if I worked as hard as Cowens I'd end up alright in the end. No other big, in his eyes, could stack up to what Cowens brought to the table.

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
Watching NBA Inside Stuff and then watching Jordan's Bulls afterwards.
I was young and didn't know much about basketball, but knew that Jordan was far superior to everyone else on the court. As a matter of fact I originally thought it was a staged production with MJ as the star/hero. I was like which villain would MJ have to get past today?Comment

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
Very first NBA memory came from watching the late '80s Pistons, when P.A. man Ken Calvert would say "Joe Duuuuuumars". My dad would imitate it and I'd have a laugh. I was like, five years old, so it didn't exactly take a lot of intellectual humor to get me going at that point.
Most early NBA memories were Bad Boys related. They were a cultural phenomenon in my neighborhood (Metro Detroit). They may as well have been super heroes to kids like me because they all had easy-to-remember nicknames: Spider, Worm, Buddha, Zeke, Microwave.
Our Burger King even used to have a glass display case in the middle of the check-out area where people could buy Pistons basketball cards and other memorabilia.
Also, there were a couple of local Pistons raps that'd get radio play on 96.3. Thought that was the greatest thing ever.

Re: What are you first NBA memories?
My first nba memory was getting a '91 Bulls poster and playing Tecmo Super NBA Basketball for Super NES, my first game for the system.
I also remember the 93 Bulls and watching game 3 3-OT finals game on a TV in a Horse Race TrackYouTube/PSN: FARKALICIOUS
