OS NBA Players Rating: Player #3 - Jason Kidd

For the third player to vote on, we'll just go with Jason Kidd, who has led the New Jerseys Nets to the NBA Finals in back-to-back years in 2001 and 2002. Jason Kidd has been labeled the best point guard in the NBA for the past couple of years due to his ability to take over a game without putting the ball in the basket. His court vision has made him one of the most enjoyable players to play with on the court. Many have said that he is a true point guard, and it shows by how his game has developed young players such as Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson. Kidd was considered a high MVP canidate, and their have been arguments saying that he should have been League MVP in 2001. That year, Jason Kidd took a miserable New Jersey Nets team and turned them into a NBA Finals competitor. Recently, however, Jason Kidd has been hit with a knee injury and has taken a lot of heat for wanting to leave New Jersey and sitting out practices during this years training camp due to injury.

Great court vision, its really almost superhuman. Gets other people involved, specifically on the fast breaks.

However, I dont think he is that great in half court sets. Hes just very good, not spectacular like he is on the fast breaks. His scoring is also suspect at times. Not a high % shooter by any stretch.

His D is still pretty good, but not like it was when he was younger.

    Ill give him a 9

If J-Kidd could lower his turnovers a bit, up his shooting percentage a tad bit and stay healthy, he'd be a perfect 10. But for now, he's a 9.

i gave him a 9. He can do it all, but shoot which is why he didn't receive a 10. Only a few players in this league are a 10.
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

Right now, his career is on the downfall, If this rating was based on career stats, then he is a 9, but now I would rate him a 7. He still doesn't have a NBA title and he is running into injury problems so my rating of Jason Kidd is equal to the number of feet that T.J. Kidd's head is.

Like Longhornsin said his career is at a downfall now...but a healthy J-Kidd could no doubt lead a team. He isnt the greatest of shooters but when he does knock down the shots he is a very dangerous PG. I gave him a 9 with no question, probably one of the top ten point guard(s) of all time and that is sayin a alot.

                        Over-rated!

IMO, Kidd has an attitude problem, that he hides with a decent public face. He helped melt down the Mavs when he was there, he got B Scott fired and then tried to play innocent, he beat his wife, and now he's PUBLICLY given up on his teammates...he just seems real bitchy to me.

In a league where true point guards are a rarity, Kidd is king. He's a prototypical west coast, fast break point guard, and in the weak-*** Eastern conf, that was unique.

His ability to attack the open court, his rebounding, and his standout defense save this guy from being mediocre, IMO. In the half court, he's average at best, his shooting is too inconsistent to help unclog the lane, he can't really break his man down, plus he turns the ball over A TON... Its not as difficult to rack up assists when your own offense is so shaky, and its also a little easier to snag boards when your bigs are constantly getting out on the break...

Even in his prime, I would only give him an 8...add the injuries and his decline and he gets a 7. Lets see how much of a top-shelf playmaker he is now.

Although he has seemingly been a problem in the locker room...on the court he's the best at his position, which is enough for me to give him a 10.
