re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
as someone who lives in the Bay Area and lives right next to the San Mateo bridge right before you hit the east bay. I have to say this is pretty crazy to have such a huge star come to the Warriors like this, even if they are the former champs and almost winning back to back titles.
Season tickets have been sold out for a while now and with this news good luck even getting into the parking lot to watch the Warriors play. lol CRAZY NEWS!Comment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Durant said it himself. He was tired of losing. Maybe he realized he couldn't get it done in OKC with Westbrook and that management.
The smart move isn't staying there out of loyalty for a team that wasn't loyal to anyone else that helped make that team a Finals contender.
People can be disappointed. It doesn't mean their disappointment isn't misguided. It's strange to be mad at a player doing what's best for him and not be mad at the team that made it more difficult for that player.
OKC gave him a bad coach. They traded away Harden. They just traded away Ibaka. They brought in Waiters as the help.
They did get him Adams and Kanter, but Durant got them 30 PPG and an MVP. There was a failure in the franchise to help him win a title.
I don't know really why Durant chose to leave. Obviously, alot of it was based on winning and hey at the end of the day that may be all that matters. I personally don't fault him for that. But I don't fault fans who like to see probably the most universally admired star since a prime Tim Duncan or MJ overcome some adversity and finally beat a rival rather than joining them. That's part of what makes sport compelling."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

. Even more recently, the Spurs have been contenders, dominated their conference, and won championships 15 years apart, so not even in the modern era do I think they're the best. But the way everything is coming together is definitely something to admire as a fan of a team that's recently undergone a ton of front office turmoil. If they can live up to their potential and put a run together, maybe a 3peat the next few years, it'll definitely be an interesting discussion to have.
Glad I get to see it to be honest.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I don't get that logic at all. The Thunder beat a 67 win team in six. They were up 3-1 on the greatest regular season team of all time. There is no perfect team in the NBA....including the current champions. Even if they did "fail", some of the blame falls on Westbrook, some falls on coaching, some falls on management, and typically (especially on this board) most falls on the best player. Happened to Curry recently, happened to Lebron, and let's not even get into Kobe. Absolving KD from all the responsibility and saying his decision to leave is justified solely (or heck even somewhat) on OKC's mismanagement is ludicrous.

I thought Curry was the universally loved star?

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
If he won it with Westbrook, people would be questioning whose team it was, who deserves more credit, etc etc. People are always gonna nitpick.
Also, I don't see winning a ring with Pop as being somehow more organic or legitimate. That would be a stacked team, built heavily on free agent acquisitions. Which, for whatever reason, is a method people dislike.Comment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I just don't like this man... I just don't like this team up trend. I wanna see KD and Russ going at the Warriors next year to try and complete the job. I wanna see KD and Russ taking down the Spurs for good once again. I wanna see KD and Russ taking on the Cavs to try and dethrone LeBron and get payback for 2012.
I don't wanna see the one of the best players in the game, an MVP winner with multiple scoring titles, to go arguably one of the best teams of all-time.
I get it... I'm just a fan. It's not my legacy, not my money, and not my life on the line. KD would get roasted if he stayed in OKC his whole career with no rings just like he'll get roasted for teaming up with GS. I won't pretend like I won't watch the NBA anymore, because I will.
But I guess the motto of the NBA players nowadays is that when the going gets tough... the tough get going somewhere else.
Curry has a cheap contract, Klay and Green didn't max out and then you had free agents the team could renounce.
Of course a big jump in the cap and a top 5 player becoming an UFA at the same time.
OKC could have pressed the issue last year, get KD to commit long term or trade him if he didn't commit. Now there's talk that they will try to get a commitment from Westbrook or else trade him like they did Harden and Ibaka.
Not saying it won't happen again but the conditions were unique.Comment

He's not signing emotional moves or desperation contracts.
Jennings is definitely an interesting pick over Galloway IMOComment

The Cleveland Cavaliers learned of the luxury tax bill on Saturday, when the NBA announced the salary cap for next season, league sources say, with owner Dan Gilbert soon required to send in a check for $54 million.
Good thing they won the Championship...Comment
