re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Doesn't make much sense to not match given the circumstances. We obviously have an open spot at SG, he counts virtually nothing against the cap for us the next 2 seasons, and we can trade him at any time and he will only count 12.5 mil against any other teams cap.
I say keep him, see what he can do, trade him if it doesn't work out.

He'll count whatever he's making each year against the cap. Better off just continuing to develop Richardson's game while he's on a bargain now. You can always find a Tyler Johnson, especially in that system, which tends to get the most out of PGs in recent memory.#RespectTheCultureComment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
How Riley handled the entire Wade situation is exactly why I can't fault guys like KD for taking their destinies into their own hands. Wade basically made every sacrifice a star player could make in order to win. He took a paycut to bring two other stars to town (where he was paid the least of the three), sacrificed his ego, and sacrificed his status to help get the franchise two more rings, only to be hardballed two years in a row at the end of his contract. It'll be hard to see him in another uniform but good for him, because loyalty is supposed to be a two-way street.#RespectTheCultureComment

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
My fear is that in this day and age, Riley's way of doing things is too old school. Challenging players to be "the man" and to be tough seems like a thing of the past. And from what I'm hearing, the way he handled this situation was absolutely disgusting. To not even call Wade is absurd to me. Regardless of what his plans are for the franchise, I feel like what happened here completely went against the "family" and "loyalty" he preaches. How is a FA going to want to come here if the face of the franchise was treated this way?#HeatNation

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
Now im seeing LeBatard say that may have been because D Wade told them to speak only through his agents, that he didn't want to be involved. 2 sides of the same story, probably both true. Im surprised that could get in the way though. We all know the Rat's favorite is the fax machine anyway.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I'm sure Bulls Fans wanted Rose to get his money back in the day but I'm sure they were also ready for management to move on him.#RespectTheCultureComment

I think we can and do root for both, he was just making an argument for that viewpoint and it makes sense. But I def feel ya on the rooting for both, I'm sure many people do.Comment

Of course we can. There's a reason we're here and not on some crazy fan page though. This forum does not represent the majority of sports fans.NFL - Vikings

re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread
I guess im just trying to put myself in the shoes of a Heat fan, but I can't because I hate Pat so much.
If a guy brings us 3 chips in 12 years, taking pay cuts and bringing stars in, etc. I as a fan feel I can watch the team suffer for 2 years while he gets his money. I feel like I would owe him that. It's hard for me to imagine just being ok with him being let go, and I guess Lakers fans are the best to ask.
To me, seeing these guys in another uniform is more painful than the team being bad for 2 years. Talk about legacy? This is the legacy of your franchise wearing a Bulls jersey over a few million dollars. And this guy (Pat) was preaching loyalty and family? Ridiculous.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I look at it like this: Is it possible to hate the contract the Lakers gave to Kobe but then also be mad at Riley for not giving him that same contract(minus the extra year)basically?#RespectTheCultureComment

It's also just a terrible business decision. Heat fans half a$$ showed up for the Heatles years, you think they're about to spend Saturday night in Miami watching Goran Dragic? Good luck with that.
I never took issue with the Kobe deal. It was legacy pay from a team that was nowhere near contention but still needed to put butts in the seats. Anyone who thought it was a pure basketball decision was naïve.
but to your point, it would be hypocritical to hate one and not the other.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 07-07-2016, 09:44 AM.NFL - Vikings

I wanted Riley to give Wade similar deal to Kobe. Heat now have cap space to menuver in free agency and the trade market. Riley has show an ability to reconstruct a winner and that worries me.Comment
