This, more than anything, makes me feel old. He's the last of the 1st wave of superstars I saw from draft night to retirement. ****.

lol, that reminds me of a joke someone on this site made a few months back. How funny it'd have been if one day during the season(or even the first game of the season), Duncan just retired, and the announcement was made on the boxscore. It'd be like:
              Tim Duncan-DNP-Retired.

But crazy to see Duncan and Kobe both retire after same season. KG likely retiring soon, VC going to retire soon also. End of an era.

                Dude was the basketball Jeter.
Duncan's career is so much more impressive than Jeter's. He's a top 10 player of all time most likely.

Duncan was undoubtedly the best player of my generation, in my eyes.

                    re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

I started a seperate thread, but will share a few thoughts here. Tim Duncan has been the rock, foundation and tone setter for the Spurs organization for nearly 20 years and now he's gone. His body literally gave up during the playoffs and no matter how hard he tried - and if rumors are true he pushed himself to try and comeback - his knees wouldn't budge.

It sucks to know he'll never don the Silver and Black, again. Yet, on other hand he won't have to struggle on the court and be outplayed by lesser players like Steven Adams and Enes Kanter. Thank you so much, big fella.

                    Top 5 dead or alive.......

I'm sure the Spurs knew about it for a couple of weeks.

Probably told Gasol that Timmy was retiring so that was probably a lure.

That and $40 million over 2 years.

The Jeter thing was less accomplishment and more representation. There's no greater compliment anyone can get from me than being Jeter lol. But I just meant from a narrative standpoint almost, they represent a lot of the same things, organizational greatness, establishing a culture, coming in and winning right away, being about the team. Even the relationship with his coach, they have a lot of similarities.

From Spurstalk.com's webmaster - who has connections in the organization - Timmy had been working out a few weeks ago with hopes of coming back.

His one good knee, which turned bad through the course of last season, didn't show any signs of improvement. His body (primarily his knees) just gave up on him, sadly.

"More cutthroat than people give him credit for." The most Kobe compliment TD could've gotten

Nets reportedly looking for land on Waiters Island, according to Sam Amico.
