    re: 2016 NBA Offseason Thread

I couldn't care less about them moving the ASG from Charlotte for whatever reasons they wanted to.

I just don't want to see it in New Orleans. Seems like they're there every other year (exaggeration but you know what I'm saying).

Good location and greet food but I'd like to see it elsewhere.

    Also no Staples Center.

They gave a team to NO from Charlotte ...they dont need to keep punishing the Hornets

if they want to be less hypocritical then move the whole team

Why stop there. Its not gonna kill the city because an all star game isnt there

But the team and all the people that supported and helped build back up after david stern reamed them with the old owner its foul

Last thing we need ia the nba trying to referee somebody elses stuff when they clearly have and cover their own issues

That's what im saying lol. And the irony of it being NO and them having beat them in the AD lottery.

But if the NBA wants to take a stand on human rights, I dont blame them. Is there any info on who is gonna be playing in China next year yet or is that normally released later?

PG has already come out and said he thinks its unfortunate for the city and fans.

To be fair...ASGs (and major sporting events in general) bring a great deal of revenue into cities.

I just don't get why it's constantly New Orleans. NO has so much going on in February. They wouldn't miss it that much unlike other cities.

CIAA is here that same month, wouldve been great for the city to have both events back to back....and set the precedent for future events....

I can't blame the league for this. Let's be real, if they stay there after the fact that bill has been passed, you'd be naive to think it wouldn't be heading down a slippery slope.

                Blame the state for this.

So what do they do when the regular season starts? Ban home games?

What do they do in China, and other international markets they're trying to expand to?

                  How bout that slope?

They need to stick with NBA basketball

                    2016 Offseason Thread

I'm not about it at all.

Let's just say that players and the league as a whole took a stand against another "issue" currently going on. If it resulted in games being missed, cancelled, etc, I wouldn't be mad about it one bit even with as much as I love me some bball.

Charlotte can always get the all star game another year. As someone else said, there are things more important than basketball.

Be mad at the government there. Not at the league taking a stand and doing what they think is right.

Not to delve too far into the issue but the NC legislature knew the ramificatons of the law and dared someone to call their bluff. As someone who is somewhat close to the situation, hard not to see this coming.

The league is pandering they aren't taking a stand.

Like I said if they were really serious they'd just move the team, not some exhibition game,

but you know why they won't? .... its because they still want the fans and city's money that's why.

                        ...but whatever

I'll bow out of this and hold my thoughts on this because this is a convo nobody really wants to have and it's a convo ya'll don't want us to have.

To me, it's less about the specifics of the issue and more the implication that it sends to react to any issue this strongly. The league has its hand in a lot of different places and it doesn't make a lot of sense to take such a strong stance on this given their stance on other issues.

Regardless, this is a PR stunt. They knew the law was not going to be changed by their threats. He did say earlier though "I'm not sure what kind of statement we'd be making about our team in North Carolina if we moved the ASG." I guess the answer was nothing because they just rescheduled it for 2019 and will wait until then to deal with it if it hasn't been.

Specifically on the NBA, how can they take this stance with a team in the state? Ignoring the issue completely, how do they react to that?

Well, there is a reason I left my tried sticking it to being about basketball, but I guess that can't happen so I agree with you.
