If Rose can stay healthy him, Melo and Porzingis make for a pretty nice trio. I don't know what they're cap looks like (with Melo and Rose's contracts probably not great), but if they can land a good center and a role player or two they'll be a pretty interesting team to follow next year.

Can't be mad at Phil. He's been alright man. Maybe NY will finally get out of that funk now, even if its slowly its progress

I'm a Nets fan but I spend a good amount of time observing the Knicks since my dad is a NYK fan and New York fans need to hold back immediate judgment and wait until the season starts. I remembered being confused when they booed the KP pick because I loved it and look at how that worked out? Obviously Rose won't come out averaging 22 & 8 every night like he's in his prime but he's STILL above-average when healthy and an upgrade at PG.

          Calderon is gone.

Has nothing to do with Calderon.

Knicks needed a talent upgrade. A brittle Rose is better than jerking around for a season.

And no 1st rounder given up?

He's been really good, just too many fans getting caught up in what the NY rags are trying to spoon feed them about Phil being terrible and an absentee exec. He mades us slightly better, for now, with zero long-term risk and didn't mortgage the future one iota.

Phil Jackson ninjaed a second round pick?

Keep killing that New York media, Phil.

I like the move, but why not Teague for the pick rather than landing Hill.

Haven't seen, but Lopez and Calderon together means the salaries must be pretty close to a wash.

I like it. Lopez is a good player on a good contract, but eventually KP is going to be a center, so he isn't really a long term solution. And even a broken down Rose makes us more attractive to free agents this summer. Rose gets a year to be the stop gap point guard, and try to prove he could be the long term solution. If not, we have even more cap room next year when the pg class is strong.

Porzingis is not ready to be a full time 5 so still have to see what we do at center now.

                      Good trade.

Total $22.5 mm out the door.

                          Rose $21.3 mm
                          Holiday $1.0 mm
                          Total $22.3 mm coming back.

                          Knicks did good.

That's not including the second rounder cost but it's essentially a wash.

I'm not a big fan of what Chicago did there.. Nice job by the Knicks though.

Do have to wonder if there was a better deal for Rose out there, or did Phil just punk Paxson.
