yep....thats the only thing it has over 2k3.......most people would think that they have the freestyle control over 2k3 too......but in 2k3 you can also make combos and things like that but you just use the crossover and fake buttons instead of the anolog stick.....

I said that. It was pretty intriging hearing that from a variety of people walking through the main aisle as we played.

Are you kidding? I think the freestyle control is MUCH more innovative than you're making it out to be. But then again, I don't hate Live, nor any other b-ball game out there. I want the best b-ball game possible, and I'm going to give Live 2003 a shot. Not on console, of course, but definitely on PC. I'm really excited about the freestyle control for Live 2003, because that's something I was hoping some b-ball game would do someday. Although I think EA could have extended the freestyle control to maybe doing dunks somehow, possibly for a dunk contest. That would be really cool if they did that. I'm excited about NBA 2k3 and NBA Inside Drive 2003 as well. I'll definitely be getting NBA 2k3 on Tuesday, and I might even rent Live 2003 for the Xbox next weekend to check it out too. Won't consider buying the game until the PC version's out though.

the freestyle control is great......only differance is in live you have total control.....in 2k3 you can do everything live does dribble wise.....you can hit the crossover button twice for a double cross then fake right and do a spin to the left in a seamless motion just like the freestyle control.... only thing is the comp. chooses what move you do in 2k3

2k3 doesn't have throwbacks? I was thought i heard that it did, but maybe I was just thinking of NFL 2k3 which I know has them, and assumed its NBA coutnerpart would have them for sure too.

                  jumpoff,
that is the point of free style control. you have control over what you're doing instead of hitting a button and losing control for 2 seconds while the computer runs you through an animation. so its not even close to the same

i think Steve did mention that nba2k3 will have retro jerseys too--I remember seeing that Clippers light blue jerseys--and someone saying that it was an early 90's jersey

NBA 2K3s shot control feature will be WAY better than Lives FREESTYLE control in terms of gameplay innovation. This should also cut down on the over abundance of blocks in the game assuming the CPU also takes advantage of this feature. The fake pass should also cut down on the number of intercepts/steals in a game

the only prop i have is that sega sports is taking credit for making that shot control and having a great inovation......its been in games before....its not that big to me...i think 2k3's franchise is very big.....

I think Ill buy 2k3, and rent Live. As a one time Live fan, 2k has beaten it hands down over the last couple of years. But it looks like EA is taken 2k seriously, and trying to change for the better. The freestyle control is hot. And what makes is really cool is that you can use it on D as well. Who knows, maybe Live will actually be worth my $50 this year.
