OS NBA Players Rating: Player #6 - Antoine Walker

Antoine Walker was known as half of the 1-2 scoring punch with Paul Pierce in Boston. Later traded to Dallas, Antoine Walker looked to provide some versatility for the high octane offense of the Mavs. Instead, Walker was sent away from Dallas after taking some heavy criticism from the fans. He now finds himself on the Hawks roster, one of the worst teams in the NBA. However, with the help of Al Harrington, and possible Childress, the Hawks can make a go for a decent record this year. Antoine Walker will have to play the versatile game that he has the talent to play. His ability to play Point Forward can be very helpful, if he stays clear from the drug called the three point line. "Mr. I shoot 3s because there aren't any 4s" is a one man 3 point launching machine, and fans have been pleading for him to stop his 3 point brick barrage.

Again, this is on a scale of today's talent. This also means that some players can be voted as a 1/10 if they are the worst of the worst.

My dislike for Antoine Walker is known. The guy has so much talent, but all he does is jack threes. He shows no poise on court. He shoots for a guardlike % even though he's supposed to be a forward. I dont buy into that "point-forward" theory. Once again, he either goes 11-15 or 3-22. The latter is more common, seeing as how he takes the worst shots at the worst times

    I gave him a 6.

I agree with Matrix he could easily be the best player in the league he has the talent and he can play every position on the court its just that he has these John Starks-esque moments and jacks up 3s when he should be driving and posting up. Again Matrix is right its either 11-15 or 3-22 and 1-8(or so) from 3. I give him a 6 and hallelujah he made a 3
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Underrated ball defender, great ball handler for a big man, can score from anywhere past the timeline, he can initiate the offense and can play 4 positions...

Questions on work ethic answered before his Boston exit; when Ainge took over as Boston's GM, he stated the the C's would run the floor and be more of a transition team, Walker came to camp in the best condition of his NBA career, and maintained it during his Dallas stint. Quietly played solid D on a BAD defensive Mavericks squad...

Above average 3pt shooter, but the fact that he takes WAY too many leads to a low avg... he does make a ton of them (always near the top of the league in 3's taken and made) which opens the paint and puts pressure on a defense, and 43-44% from the field isn't TOO shabby for a perimiter player nowadays

If unproven Crawford is a 7, former All-Star Walker is at least a 7 as well, IMO. Better shot selection, and more effective leadership qualities would make 'Toine one of the most versatile and dangerous players in he league.

People tend to forget that when he's on, this guy is a beast.

                    9

Midrange Jumper - he's got it
Longrange Shot - he's got it (even though used too much)
Close Range - he's got it

That warrants an 8, but 9 Rebounds per game for a sg/pg is insane and bumps it up to a 9 in my book.

Everyone has a long-range shot, making them is an entirely different thing. Toine doesn't make enough to warrent taking so many of them. If he used his post game more (and he has a good post game) I'd have also given him a 9.
