Jamaal tinsley signs a 6 year extension

Jamaal Tinsley has signed a six-year contract extension with the Indiana Pacers that goes into effect next season.

Tinsley, the Pacers' starting point guard, did not specify financial terms, other than to say, "It's enough."

Tinsley, the Pacers' first-round draft pick in 2001, would have become a restricted free agent if he had not signed an extension by Sunday.

"I wanted to get it out of the way so I don't have to worry about it," Tinsley said.

Its expected that the next round of CBA will result in a shorter maximum-length contract. We've been hearing whispers of three or four years, maximum.

DW has a long history of using long contracts to ensure that a small-market team can keep its players/ maintain stability. He's been willing to overpay to get players to sign maximum-length deals.

Tinsley is a great pure point guard but i dunno if i'd sign him for 6 more years. What are the odds of him finishing out that 6 year contract with Indy?
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

the odds are very high, IMO

I have always liked tinsley, and I think he is the point guard of the future for the pacers.

I agree. I also think the Pacers would've beaten the Pistons if he was not hurt. He cant be trapped and pressed like Anthony Johnson.

Pretty simple. If they win a ring within a year or two, he'll stay.

                        If not...he'll go.

No way will he be the "only" PG a superstar like J O'Neal is given unless they win a ring soon.
