This guy is getting 14.6 millions this year and can't feed his family...
"Why would I want to help them win a title?" he asked. "They're not doing anything for me. I'm at risk. I have a lot of risk here. I got my family to feed. Anything could happen."
now thats a team player -

Re: I No Longer Like Spreewell
why don't these players realize that they're still under contract, and just fulfill that obligation before demanding an extension two years before the contract expires. My football alliances: E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles AND Hokie Hokie Hokie HiComment

Now to play devils advocate..
1. Sprewell had a decent year and they went farther in the playoffs then b4. He did have a part in that.
2. If Sprewell has a career ending injury in the first game of this season and is hurt for life. $14M seems like nothing when compared to rest of your life. If he got hurt, we then all call him crazy because he did not secure a better future for himself. What if he has mounting medical bills later on in life, b/c this is not uncommon for guys once the retire.
3. Its leverage for a player, it makes an owner or GM take notice and that you are serious.
4. That $14Mil is a drop in the bucket to the owners of the NBA.Comment

That's why you saw Shaq continually asking for extensions, because of the same reason. He got his 100 mil dollar contract before this current CBA came into play, and he was eligible for more money and under less restrictions as long as he extended his contract.Comment
