At least the NHL had a historical reason to do that. I think the NBA is only doing this to help expose and sell their away/3rd jerseys to the home crowd. I really wish the Raptors would wear the "Canada red" unis as their fulltime away uniform.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Sometimes it looks bad in the NBA though, because a lot of times the home team's jersey color blends in with the color of the paint. For example, the Rockets wore red at home last year and when the players stood in front of the paint they looked like a floating head and arms. Of course, it only looks bad on TV--not on the court.

They do it on home openers (and sometimes on other ocassions) so the home crowd can see their team in their road uniforms in person.Comment
