I'm curious if they can flip the switch though. If they really can they'll be fine.

Knicks better get that Lakers treatment next year, man.

Stop putting these dudes on National TV every week since they stink again.

Last time I looked at the Cavs game they were down 5 in the 3rd. That escalated quickly.

I think it depends on what their playoff rotation looks like. I know LeBron and Kyrie can flip the switch defensively but the concern should be on the new additions. Do Deron/Derrick Williams and Korver have an extra gear on defense? I'm not so sure

Yeah I really think the key is JR Smith. That's so strange to type.

They need JR and K-Love to being playing at least close to 100% if we're looking at it in terms of a repeat. That'll be more important than flipping the switch defensively, playoff level effort alone will make up some ground in that regard.

Kyrie has me questioning it a bit though. He's been really poor lately, and teams have caught on to pulling Thompson away from the rim with pick and rolls. Rumors are Thompson has been playing with tendinitis in his knee lately as well, I think his minutes are being cut leading up to the playoffs.

If you've got Love, Smith, Thompson all under 100%, LeBron a year older, and Kyrie playing the worst defense of his poor defensive career, anything can happen. I actually think Washington would have a decent shot at beating them or at least pushing a close series. They seem to give them some troubles at times.

And they did it, big time.

I love this rag tag team, even with Parker on the mend till next year.

They are the hottest team in the last 3 weeks, winning 10 of the last 12 and own the tie breaker w/Indy for 6th place in the east.

Not at all. I want to see Beal as much as possible considering he hasn't finished a season with more than 50 games in a couple years.

Its not like these guys have gone far in the playoffs so they'll need this conditioning for the future as I'm hoping Brooks will keep these guys in the playoff picture for the foreseeable future.

I can envision them fizzling out the season (which they are), but then mustering up their motivation again for the playoffs and playing stronger. I don't expect them to get back to their December/January/Pre-AS Break performances, though.

It feels weird, but I feel in great shape for next season. The bench is playing strong for the first time all season and Brooks still feeling out his rotations.

Not at all but for different reasons than FT up there...

I'm really concerned about the defense. It's been awful the last few games and only so much of that can be blamed on fatigue. It's bad all around... bad on ball, letting guys off ball cut to the basket, bad rotations and help, bad boxing out for rebounds... just bad. That's what let the game against the Celtics escalate quickly, and what made them almost lose to a Hawks team at home, without their best player. They will get DESTROYED in the playoffs playing this current brand of defense.

They've got enough pieces now to make up for a dip by one of the starters on offense. If Wall's shot is off, he'll still get to the basket, get to the line and get everyone else involved... and there's a backup PG now worth playing in the playoffs if his minutes need to be trimmed a bit. Hopefully both Beal and Porter won't be cold at the same time. There's good depth across the board for them to challenge any team in the East on offense.

Yeah, defense is cause for some concern. I'm curious how much of that is trying to fit in new guys at this time of the season and fatigue. They're making the same mistakes from earlier in the season, though.

They look completely lethargic in long stretches. I'm hoping its something they can turn around for the playoffs.

Playing Smith more isn't going to "help" but it's not like Morris was pushing the All Defensive team either. Oubre and Porter are the best defenders on the team and have been healthy during this recent stretch... and I can't see any reason either should be fatigued. The backups they replaced were defensive turnstiles too. I think it's just a lack of focus... probably feeling themselves a bit too much when they were so hot offensively.

If true, that's fixable... but doesn't mean it will be. As much as Wall and Beal have matured, it'd be a stretch to assume they are now the leaders that Pierce was going into the playoffs at this point. We'll see, it's been a fun ride. If I had to put money on it, I don't see them getting by Boston in a best of 7 if the season ended right now.
