I feel like somebody will put up a 40/20/20 line with 5 blocks, 10 steals and no turnovers on perfect shooting from the field and the line. So ESPN will make a graphic saying "first person in NBA history to do this" and it'll be rejected as an ESPN stat.

A better example of an ESPN stat would be them saying it's the first time ever a guy had a very specific stat line, like 40/20/20/5/10, but 20 other guys have had 40/20/25/4/15. Their stat people are trained to look for "1st time ever" or "almost no team/player has ever lost/won in *blank* situation."

As far as that Russ stat, it's just ESPN furthering the narrative that he's a victim.

Not really a series i want to see go 7 games but it may.

I wouldn't be shocked if it ends tonight though.

Kinda ironic Conley balling out against the team who wanted to sign him last summer.

Tony Parker is certainly looking like a bench player now. They need to address that position.

Also how long will the grizzlies keep the same core before realizing it wont get them to the finals? Smh at chandler parsons stealing money from them

Don't know yet they have a dilemma. Aldridge has declined and Parker has as well.

The point guard position in this league is probably the most important, and they play their best when he does along with Kawhi.

That said Conley is an awesome player otherwise they wouldn't have wanted him, but he's getting some wide open looks he may not get elsewhere as easy because Parker is being exposed.

They can't ride with him at starting point and expect to win. He can't neutralize the effects of a Conley, RWB, or a Dame Lillard.

People have used stats arbitrarily for so long that people now reject stats arbitrarily. Should be fun to see where this takes us.

We need to ignore the people going overboard with selective stats to support their argument the same way everyone ignores the eye test only people.

Believe me i dont care to go into great detail about espn but they definitely aren't objective and they have done this first player storyline profusely, some of it even worthless.

Don't get mad at me because their reputation is in the toilet.

I don't need an advanced stat to know

#1 the Rockets were always a better team

#2 Okc was going to have a 1st round exit

Some things are just common sense, especially for many of you guys who have actually picked up a basketball and played yourself.

I never heard a dude in the gym or the park yelling out how his teammates were -15 when they lost lol.

Yall can blame who Y'all want to and run with that all day, it doesn't matter.

It's the playoffs. Win or go home right? Whether its injury or you lose to a better team doesn't matter.

Trying to separate someone from the team simply doesn't work because it's a team game when it's all said and done.

This is all an attack on ESPN, not on the stat. Whether or not you need an advanced stat to tell you something does not indicate whether or not it's necessary. Kill the "math nerds who've never played basketball garbage" while we've got Reggie spouting ignorance every game.

The stat shows that the Thunder struggled when Russ left the floor. Do you refute that statement or not? We all know ESPN puts out arbitrary stats and ridiculous qualifiers, this isn't one of them.
