    Don't worry.

They'll both be there by the end of holiday. At least that's what I've read here all week.

Indiana's best bet is either Ainge gets antsy and includes LA's 18 1st or the Lakers get nervous and decide to make a move; but with all of the news that PG is going there regardless, then why would they?

Either way, Indiana really has no leverage and I will be surprised if they get a deal that won't disappoint Pacer fans.
Indiana's best bet is to let George play out this year and then do a sign and trade with the Lakers next year.

They still won't get equal value, but that was discussed already... perceived equal value never happens in these situations.

IT, Horford, Jaylen, Tatum, etc. plus potentially two top picks next year? I think we will be okay. Plus, once LeBron and PG head out West the East should be a cakewalk.

Seems like Indiana would just be delaying the inevitable. They need to get off of the treadmill and embrace the tank.

Would the Lakers even need to do a sign and trade or can the just outright sign him? I have 0 idea about what their cap situation looks like.

Missing out on Hayward would be a major disappointment. No other way to spin it. He has been linked to the Celtics for over two years now.

This doesn't even make sense. They've both already been the best players on a contending team and have nothing to show for it.

                  ?

They can't offer Hayward the must money so I'm expecting him not to sign in Boston. It's just how I go into these things now.

Alright so they can outright sign him. So the Pacers have 0 leverage here. They can't even play we'll wait and just do a sign & trade with the Lakers next year. And I highly doubt they would get more after the season started (trade deadline). And the reports are still that he is going to the Lakers no matter what. I only bring that up because there were reports within the last 2 weeks that George would consider resigning with Boston.

You could potentially get more at the deadline because teams that seem 'right there' could feel pressured to try to add that last piece to make a push for the postseason once they've seen their squad during the season. Mid season rentals of guys like him are actually more valuable than trying to do it in the preseason.

Well if Love is on the table and it appears he is that's a better offer right there. They could keep searching for a 3rd team in a Love trade. They could keep Love, let him play in a bigger role and raise his value up and move him later. Or the Rockets want him and are going to make a run, or the Lakers could get antsy. Or they could keep him and move him at the deadline to a team that feels they are a piece away. Even as a rental, the opportunity to move him for role players and mediocre draft picks is always going to be there, barring a serious injury. There is no urgency to move him for that package now.

He would make about the same by signing a 3-yr deal with the Boston that he would in Utah over that time frame.

I'm on record here saying numerous times Hayward signs elsewhere. That's my pessimistic nature when it comes to sports teams I follow. But let's be real here. Everyone in this forum has heard and read about the Hayward/Celtics connection for some time now. Celtics striking out on him can't be labeled as anything less than a major disappointment.

This just makes no sense to me. They don't need to have another offer on the table to say something they were offered isn't good enough, they aren't required to trade him at all.

If he wants the player, then yes he's going to have to bid against himself. You don't walk into a store and just name the price of what you want.
