And culture is big thing too. NBA we see guys signing with teams at times because of reputation. If your city is known as a bottom 10 team year after year, how do you get guys interested? If you're a playoff team, even if you might not win title , you at least have winning culture.

And the young guys learn from it too. 76ers are example of how losing culture hurts young guys growth. Spurs obviously example of how winning helps.

By time Lowry - DeRozan era is up, you got Poeltl, Siakam, Wright, Powell, Bruno, Bebe, OG. All would still be early - mid 20s. Having a group of 20 year old guys ready to take over once your main core is gone isn't a bad position to be in at all.

No, matter fact let him go east so Kawhi has one less SF to worry about (3 - 4 × a year).

I think BOS is the more talented team when in regards to Miami. Miami would become a top 4 seed BOS already is that's all. BOS best lineups all season long were Crowder a smallball 4 so not sure why much would really change. so I don't get that.

I don't deny UTAH is v good option. and now that they retained Ingles it's probably likely destination.

Y'all could be looking at other moves and working the phones for other stuff to potentially happen because A) La La ain't letting that ninja go to another country full time to play ball with his kid still in New York. Then B) even if she did, Carmelo ain't trying to move to Canada to ball man. Nice as Toronto is it's clear at this point that Melo only has one place in mind of waiving his no trade for or signing with upon a buyout and that's wherever LeBron James is playing.

Yep, the Raptors are being real shrewd about this as the east is really weak right now. You get the young guys used to winning and being in a playoff atmosphere then they'll be well equipped to take over the reigns once this 3 year window is up.

I'm not the biggest Melo fan in the world but I wouldn't mind a year of him with this current group if the Raps can get him for relatively cheap. He wants to be close to his family well, Toronto isn't too far away AND they have a more legit chance of playoff success compared with the Knicks.

Not sure I'd let him walk for nothing unless you're that confident in Bojan(assuming he's back but I'm guessing bringing in Meeks pretty much means he's gone)or Oubre replacing his production/value on the court long term(im not)but can understand not wanting to make him your highest paid player on THIS particular team.

It's literally just 1 season. 0 expectations he signs past this year. And not giving up resources really. 2 salary dumps(Joseph might get Knicks a draft pick at deadline) and a late 1st.

Not that he's for sure putting them over the top, but when you got a hard 3 year window, why not take that big risk? If the deal happened, it'd have to be approved by Melo first, so it's not like they get him and he refuses to play.

Not to mention distance isn't so far. Sure, diff country, but Toronto is like a 1hr flight from NY. Private jet and all, it'd be like nothing.

Are we sure losing has hurt the Sixers growth and not injuries to guys they've drafted or picked up in FA?

And yeah, I hope there's another DeRozan y'all can pull out or get a good FA to replace him especially if that's going to be the main core. It's always good to have a bunch of 20 y/o but if the coaching ain't good enough and guys are developing like they should, then it doesn't matter what position you're in.

I really hope that things will start to chance has I don't like the way the offseason is going. East was already weak and it is just getting worse by the moment. Really wish the Easter conference in the NBA could get better and closer to what is in the west. Only a few weeks into this offseason time and already Bulls have gotten worse, Pacers have gotten worse, Hawks have gotten worse and no team in the east has really gotten better. On the other hand in the west Timberwolves have gotten much better and should be a playoff team, Thunder have gotten better, Rockets have gotten better, Nuggets better and really only Clippers have gotten worse. Hopefully Celtics can get Haywood and hopefully Raptors can get some one has they are both teams that have enough talent that if they can add like 1 really good player with out losing any one should be right there in the championship hunt.

I'm guessing Melo no longer has an issue with D'Antoni if he's willing to go to Houston.

DAntoni bounced because he said Melo made an ultimatum.

What is he gonna say when dude ball stops instead of trying to keep ball movement?
