Damn, he came over way cheaper than I thought.

I wonder what his team in Europe was offering him because he was telling people that he wouldn't leave Europe unless the NBA offer was more than his Europe offer?

I bet there will be way more ball movement with Paul and Crawford out of there.

They seem like a more well-balanced team if they can stay healthy (Blake and Galinari).

A good role player can be highly coveted, you think teams wouldn't like a role player like Jae with that contract? Doesn't mean he's going to return a huge package but teams will want him.

I mean yeah Cleveland is the favorite in the East because LeBron, you will likely beat us again, LeBron will do what he does and kill whoever is on him.

But then when he realizes the Cavs aren't going to be beating the Warriors any time soon with that roster and the dysfunction going on at GM and he decides to take his talents to LA or whatever other team offers him a chance to win another one.

Even if LeBron stays put the Celtics are primed to ascend once he slows down, still have another Brooklyn pick, possibly the Lakers pick but if not the Kings pick the following year, along with all the other assets with Brown and Tatum.

              Re: 2017 Offseason Thread

Remember the days when whatever team Lebron was on was going to win the championship every year for the next decade and the Warriors were a fun team to give someone fits in the 1st round, but was still known for the days of RunTMC?

Fun times, seems like 20 years ago.

This idea that teams look at what GS, Cleveland or whoever else has on paper and throw their hands up because they can't possibly compete is ridiculous. Certainly the odds are stacked against them, just like they were against GS before, and the Mavs the year they won, and the Spurs many of the years they won, etc, etc, etc.

Dude ain't gonna stay in freakin' Milwaukee. It's just a matter of time. But it's all silly conjecture at this point, that way down the 'road' heh.

Why not? He already re-signed. We have him 4 more years. What's the logic behind you saying he's not gonna stay in "freakin' Milwaukee?"

I love how he added that slight edit to throw a jab at y'all city though, lol

The Cleveland Cavaliers offered Chauncey Billups what is viewed in NBA circles as a below-market salary of $2 million annually for the role of serving as president of basketball operations, league sources told ESPN.

According to sources, the team's initial offer was $1.5 million. League sources told ESPN that $4 million is typically the starting point of what an individual in that role should earn.
That should give you an idea of how much GMs make(not all of them, BTW)

1.5 initially then bumped it up to 1.9. The league average is right at 4 million.

Wizards are now expressing interest in Jamal Crawford.

I'm not sure how to feel about that one other than thinking Bojan definitely isn't coming back.

Well according to SB Nation, the typical GM takes home between 1 and 3 million a year. 3 million being seen as a crazy salary for a GM. Masai signed a 5 year 15 million dollar deal to go to Toronto.

According to an article on the five highest paid GMs in the league from just about a year ago, David Griffin's salary for the year was expected to be 5.8 million. Neil Olshey was looking at 6.5 million for the year but they said that figure could change based on team's performance. Bob Myers was listed as 8 million in salary and bonuses. RC Buford was looking at no less than 9 million and Pat Riley was expected to take home "well over 11 million."

Mind you GM salaries pop up rarely and randomly so it's hard to pinpoint exact numbers.

General managers usually make less than coaches, and $3 million is seen as a crazy salary. What’s wrong with this picture?

The NBA is not only known for showcasing highly skilled athletes on the court, but also for featuring some of the most talented executives operating

A lowball contract offer from the Cavaliers played a role in Chauncey Billups' decision not to join the team as its new president of basketball operations, according to sources.
