Some of these pickups are puzzling and pitiful. Any news on a D Rose signing? I know my guy had injuries and all but he still put up good numbers as a 3rd option in New York.

Damn I remember Udoh at Baylor. Him and Tweety Carter and Quincy Acy. Feel like I haven't heard of Udoh since Baylor though lol(or really any of those guys but I know Acy is on the Nets).

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
LeBron could basically talk about how blessed he's been to accomplish the things he has in his career. He can say he went to Miami in pursuit of championships and went to Cleveland because it was important to bring a title to the city that raised him both literally and as an NBA player. He can talk up how they made history together beating the best team in regular season history (cheers from Cleveland). Finally, he can talk about how in this stage of his career he's realizing he doesn't have a whole lot of time left and the one thing he'd love to do before it is all said and done is play with his best friends in the league. He can talk about how it has always been a dream of theirs and he can go on a sappy rant about how playing ball with your brothers is the most enjoyable purest form of the sport. He can talk about how he won titles, made money, repped for his city, and now just wants to have fun. After much deliberation I've decided to join my friends in Houston.
Fans will take it how they like. A lot of people mocked Cleveland fans for their reaction the first time. If LeBron exits classy this time and we take into account the fact that he brought them a title, I think he could get out mostly unscathed and if fans do throw a hissy, most of the spotlight would be on their reaction and not on LeBron.Comment

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Don't know if this was posted before but a good read from The Crossover about how the Supermax Contract isn't working exactly as intended:
It doesn't look like the new CBA is accomplishing its stated goals, but the league may have accidentally gotten it right anyway.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Apparently, the Spurs are still working on a deal to bring him back.
They've also signed Brandon Paul (Cleveland Cavs Summer League/Euroleague) to a deal.
If they retain Simmons, re-sign Pau and keep Paul (passed training camp/preseason), I would assume that means Manu is retiring.
They'll also need to find a cheap, developmental big man or the roster is going to be very imbalanced.

Re: 2017 Offseason Thread
Apparently Raptors looking at getting Diaw from the Jazz. The Jazz will either deal or waive him before his 7.5M contract becomes guaranteed.
He'd put them over the luxury tax and wouldn't even be starting. Only way I could see this really making sense is if he's part of a bigger deal. I don't think you can combine trade exceptions with players, so maybe they'll acquire Diaw using part of their trade exception from the Carroll deal, and then package his salary with a guy like Valanciunas in a bigger deal.
Mbah a Moute also a name they're looking at. If he can actually shoot more 3s then I wouldn't mind it. Backup F option who could be the PF when Ibaka goes to C.Last edited by Majingir; 07-13-2017, 01:06 PM.Comment

According to the San Antonio Express-News the Spurs were close to a sign-and-trade sending Jonathan Simmons to Phoenix in exchange for Tyson Chandler. Deal fell through at the last minute because the Spurs didn't want to pay Chandler the 26.6 million he's owed over the next two years. They proceeded to pull Simmons' qualifying offer after being unable to finalize terms.
