    2017 Offseason Thread

I wouldn't read too deeply into Cleveland asking for the moon in additional compensation. This is a negotiation after all. Makes sense to aim big at first.

All I know is this whole saga is a drain. How is a guy (me) supposed to know it's ok to resume grieving the departure of Isaiah.

This deal is getting done, somehow both teams have come to far. Also the Cavs Twitter account tweeted this out 45 mins ago. So take it for what you will.

Yeah this whole thing is annoying. Obviously the Cavs didn't realize how much time Thomas could miss, even if Boston was transparent. I'm not sure trying to get MORE from Boston is the right approach though. I know if I was in Boston's shoes I wouldn't give up anything extra outside of maybe a 2nd pick.

I think you just cancel the trade and take one of the other offers if you're that unsure on Thomas. Crowder and the pick definitely isn't enough compensation for IT, and if Thomas misses a chunk of the season and is gone after one year you've traded a 25 year old star for a half season rental. If he's this big of a question mark you pull the trade, seems obvious.

There's a 0% chance that Tatum or Brown is included in this.... maybe there's a slight chance if the Brooklyn pick is taken off the table but Danny laughs Koby Altman off of the phone if he expects Tatum/Brown and the Brooklyn pick for a disgruntled Kyrie.

It depends what other teams are willing to offer. The Nets pick might be the best asset available. Crowder is a solid player on a great contract and Zizic is a good young prospect (some say he would have been a lottery pick this year). Even with an injured IT the Cavs are still getting a decent return.

People also need to remember that this trade isn't really about this year. It's about the future for both teams. Even if healthy there was a chance IT could leave after this season leaving crowder, zizic, and the pick as the only real gains from the trade.

Cavs are crazy if they think the C's are giving them anything significant. A late first or a second round pick I can see but no way the Celtics are giving up Tatum, Brown, or one of their valuable picks.

Haha I'm just going off what people were saying about Zizic earlier in the off-season. I'm from Boston so it could have just been people hyping him up but I have heard multiple people say he could have been a lottery pick in this year's draft. Based on what I saw during summer league he didn't look like someone to get too excited about but he is still a 7ft 20 year old. That's a good prospect to have.

Zizic looked really slow to me in the summer league. I had high hopes for him but he didn't do much for himself this summer. Still got a ways to go time wise in his career though. He will get there.

He was really awful to start in the Summer League then got better as he went on. I think best case he's a really solid backup big. I think the only reason C's were high on him was finally having a big that can rebound a bit lol.

Sasha Vujacic, who spent the last two seasons playing for the dysfunctional Knicks, has inked a deal with Italian team Fiat Torino.

The club made the announcement Tuesday.

After playing 61 games (including 25 starts) for the Knicks in his first season on Broadway, the veteran guard inked a 1-year deal for the veteran's minimum last season. He played in just 42 games - 4 starts - as the Knicks (31-51) suffered through another wasted season.

Vujacic made sense for the Knicks two seasons ago because he came cheap and was a good fit for Phil Jackson's triangle offense. Now Jackson is gone and the Knicks are looking to build around youngsters Kristaps Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez and rookie Frank Ntilikina.

Vujacic, 33, spend his first seven seasons with the Lakers. The Slovenian also played for the Nets and Clippers during his 11-year NBA career.
