With Phil gone what was the push to move Melo?

If tanking, why not take even less?

Man, I'm completely fine with it. I don't know that they could have gotten much better from anyone else. It was either take back Shump/JR, Ryan Anderson's awful contract, or this OKC trade. At least we get a draft pick from this, while OKC is probably going to lose Melo and PG when they are free agents and be in a similar position to us anyway.

Kanter lost 40 pds this summer, and McDermott can at least shoot...let's go

"So passing Jeter doesn't make you feel any sort of way?"
          I'm concerned with winning games.

"Your homerun passed Jeter. Are you happy to do that?"
I mean, it's great to help the team. But I just want to win.

            1) Melo was the one who wanted out now.
            2) Had to make salaries match.

Melo and Westbrook together. This is gonna be hilariously bad.

Phil was never really a factor in the need to move Melo. He was just in charge at the time. The franchise needed to move on, changing GM's didn't change that.

Also, I hope Melo shows off this year. He's not a scrub. His style was not at all conducive to the state of our team, but he can be valuable to a team with other stars. I definitely believe that.

I disagree. I already saw a "three basketball" meme. How many times are people going to dip into that well when 3 stars align?

Melo is really a great piece for OKC. He doesn't drive much. He loves shooting on kickouts.

If Donovan let's them be while drawing up an actual play Scott Brooks never dreamed of, there is something there.

Are they a top 3 WC team? I say no. I think the Rockets are a more dynamic team especially with the pick and roll game and the Spurs are going to trip into a 2 or 3 seed because Popovich (and yes Spurs fans I know they have Kawhi. I said what I said.)

Too bad he's basically Amare on defense. Gonna be frustrating to watch him. Our fanbase is gonna kill him.

Melo is all iso and midrange. Russ morphs in and out of that mindset as well. Russ will get some assists out of it I guess, as long as Melo is cool with moving without the ball and doing catch-and-shoot with 2 seconds left on the shot clock. Russ is gonna do what he wants.
I predict Melo gets "hurt" and is either out, or plays extremely limited minutes, from around January onward. Russ/PG/Melo won't be in the lineup together much, either way.

So does Melo go back to playing the 4 again? Or does PG13 play the 2?

They got so much praise for finding Willie they went ahead and got a more expensive version to add on.
