Man I got no issue with hitting the reset button, the problem I have is who is doing the resetting. I have no faith in the two of these clowns getting rid of the best player on this team to reset and if you're going to reset do it right. Jimmy is worth more than what's looking like the 3rd pick and Jahlil freakin' Okafor.

I really just want them to take Fultz. Unless Danny is gonna absolutely pillage somebody again. It just doesn't seem like a good move otherwise.

As we should with everything, this should be taken with a grain of salt, Phoenix is trying extremely hard to move up to 2 and take Lonzo Ball.

"But another scenario has piqued the franchise’s interest. The Lakers held internal discussions about trading back two spots to No. 4 if the Suns were to offer them a 2018 first-round pick. The Suns hold their own 2018 pick (which currently projects to be a high lottery pick) as well as the rights to the Miami Heat’s 2018 pick. The latter pick is top-seven-protected in 2018 but unprotected in 2019."

This trade kinda seems like backwards logic to me.

I would think the Sixers would want Jimmy, that way they have a proven player, all star caliber guy, to help mentor the young up and coming guys. I don't think their point guard needs are as big as the need for a go to wing scorer. There's definitely not a guarantee Fultz is that guy especially since it seems literally every draft has some freak combo guard projected to be the next big thing.

For Boston, it seems like having a solid core, an already good and proven team, that's the perfect type of structure to draft a high profile player to and he really develop to his maximum potential. League history almost always shows that having a "sure thing" guy landing on to an already great team yields good results. Plus Jimmy could potentially leave in 2 years. If he leaves and Fultz is out there competing for MVPs this trade will be looked back on as horrible. I'm not sure Jimmy's ceiling is a whole lot higher than where he is now, and I don't really think that pushes them out of the East next year unless more moves are coming.

I think a couple of those guys could potentially end up as good or better than Jimmy Butler. Jackson could end up being a similar player. I think that's actually his draft comparison. It might be the perfect way to move on from him, replace him with a younger version of himself for the rebuild.

Yeah, no. Jimmy is a top 15 player in the league right now. If all the deal is for is the number 3 this year and Okafor then that's a stupid move. Jimmy is the only asset on this team at the moment you don't cash that in on a trash package just for the sake of saying you're starting over.

                    Re: 2017 Offseason Thread

I've always looked at it like this:

Your A+ Tier Players: Your Lebrons, Curry, KD, Kawhi, Westbrook, Davis, Harden. These guys are the untouchables in that there's not a package in the world that you could offer to make me even consider just the thought of moving them. You won't get more than 5 seconds on the phone with me so Draft Picks, young players....you can keep those if you're trying to pry these guys from me.

(I'd also include Giannis in this group and not because I think he's equal/better than the guys I mentioned, but his potential/upside based on what he's shown and how quick his game has progressed from when he first entered the league to now, automatically puts him in this group.)

Your A/A- Tier Players: Klay, Dray, Kyrie, Gobert, Hayward, PG, DeRozan, Wall, IT, KAT, Mike Conley, Butler, Blake, Lillard, McCollum, Cousins, Gasol(Probably missing a few so it's no disrespect to that player if I didn't include them). These are guys who aren't necessarily untouchable but I won't hang up the phone after about 2 minutes either. Would probably take multiple draft picks(preferably unprotected)including this year's 1st, next year's 1st(I'll substitute this for 2 if they're in the same year and one or both are in the Top 10) and a young player with decent/good upside. Although, I'm willing to be a bit flexible, this would pretty much be the starting point for negotiations.

Your B+ and worse players: Pretty much guys I didn't mention. I got no problem with having some dialogue on them as long as the package in what I consider "fair" and you're not trying to Billy King/Phil Jackson me. Depending on the player, I'd be good with a good player and a 1st/throw in a 2nd round pick as well.

Now in regards to the young guys(KAT, Wiggins, Porzingis, Booker, Embiid, Simmons(TBD), Booker is the only one I'd consider moving and even that would depend on what I'm getting in return. Everybody else, don't even waste your time calling me about them. Their potential is too high to make me want to consider moving them. Now if you want to offer me anyone from that first group...then that's a different story, lol.

My brain is stuck on what to do if landing Griffin or Hayward proves to be a failed mission. What then? Would grossly overpaying lesser free agent talents to 1-year deals with a team options be the way to go? And if so, what combination of players do I want, and who would be open to signing such a deal? Or, and I can't believe I'm saying this, kick the tires on a Carmelo trade?

I don't like it. Both those picks could be underwhelming even without being protected. Danny must really not want Fultz for some reason now.

Doing what a good general managers of a rebuilding franchise does...aquiring more future draft picks.

Seriously though I can see where Danny is coming from. If he views someone other than Fultz as the top guy, and can add a potential 2018 lottery pick to the stash, sliding down two spots makes sense. Have to give him the benefit of the doubt and hope this gamble proves correct in the end.

Zach Lowe said last night that the trade was basically agreed upon; and based on the way Philly is reporting on Fultz' workout, it seems like it's pretty much guaranteed to happen now.
