    Looking at the standings...

I don't think the East could be anymore WIDE open.

The former three powerhouses of the East are on the downfall. New Jersey isn't half the team it was with Kidd and Martin, and Scott for that matter. The Pistons seem to be struggling as of late. And with the Pacers top three players out, they have a lot of work to do.

So who does that leave? The Heat are playing well, but anyone could make a run at the playoffs at this point.

The Pistons will win the east easily. They're basically biding thier time not wanting to go full out in a long season so they can be fresh for the playoffs. The Pacers are done without Artest(who I seriously doubt will be allowed to come back for the playoffs, so somebody please tell him that) and Wallace will eat Shaq alive if they meet. If Hill stays healthy, watch out for the Magic as a dark horse.

The Heat are finally getting healthy (Laettner's back and we dont have to worry about god awful Malik Allen) so they could be making their big big push soon and their division locked up by february maybe january
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Wizards, we're just as good as ORL (better seeing as how we beat them) and we aren't yet at full strength. Thing is with GHill and all, the magic is the better story. Noone like s to talk about the Wiz except to kick them when they're down. Well, they wont get that chance this year. We are 3rd in the league in scoring with 101 ppg, and our losses were a close one vs miami, not so close in miami and in cleveland, and In OT with the Mavs When we add Kwame to our three headed monster and establish defense, we'll be scary. We will definitely be a 4-6 seed.

I don't see Detroit winning as easily as you Dan, and it has nothing to do with the rough start or the brawl. I just dont see Detroit with that championship swagger. I mean, I don't know the stats, but I dont think the expansion team has EVER beat the reigning champs definitively like the Bobcats did.... The East is wide open from top to bottom, and hungry teams like the magic, wizards, and Cavs will prolly take advantage of it.

Miami seems to beat up the East then when they meet a western conference team they get smoked. I believe they are like 1-4 against the West. The majority of the eastern conference is a joke anyways.

Funny thing about this season is how everyone wanted to talk about the Southleastern division, turns out as of tonight, we have 3 of the top 8 teams in the east. Now the atlantic division...IDK.

It looks like the winner of the Atlantic division will be hard pressed to get 40 wins and they'll be the 3rd seed. I don't know why the league does this. All division winners should get in the playoffs but should be seeded according to thier records so if the Knicks win the division with 35 wins than they should get in but be the 8th seed if there are 7 teams with better records.
