Yeah maybe cancer isn’t the right word, considering it’s not like he was destroying the locker room or anything like that. The comments on that page are interesting.

Yeah, it seems like he just kept to himself when he got fed up (I have a difficult time labeling that a cancer)

Also didn't sound like he necessarily wanted to be a in a leadership role, just didn't wanna to be "little brother".

OJ with that early morning hyperbole/overreaction take.

        Thanks for posting that, Bolt.

I mean if it was Dwight doing the same thing we would call him a cancer or say he was trying to get another coach fired.. so I don’t believe what I said originally was THAT off base.

I will say, if they were seriously considering whether they should keep Waiters or Kyrie it likely had much less to do with their abilities and more to do with these type of Kyrie “issues”.

I get OJ's take; I don't think it's a stretch to call some of that behavior cancerous.

              • Kyrie didn't like Lue very much, especially after Ty Lue told the media that "players need to put their brands aside", meaning Love and Kyrie need to stop worrying about endorsements and trust LeBron to lead the team. Ty Lue admitted to Dave McMenamin that Kyrie has treated him like a stranger since day 1 and that it is 'impossible to break through to him'. (which may have been why Kyrie made those remarks this year about coaching styles)
              • Kyrie did not talk to any of his teammates between last years Indiana and Toronto series. Not even during practices.
If you don't think that's some cancerous stuff then you never played a day of organized sports in your life. It's impossible for that behavior to not have a negative impact on a locker room.

Your second-best player refuses to have a relationship with your head coach and won't talk during practices in the damn playoffs?

You've got three beat writers corroborating this stuff. This isn't your typical "multiple sauces" stuff.

What? Because he didn't want to be buds with his coach? If you can show me something saying he wouldn't watch film with him, showed up to practice late, got into fights with teammates, etc; then yeah, I'll agree. Dude just kept to himself. And they won a damn championship they had no business winning. I fail to see how that's cancerous at all.

It's a spectrum. You don't have to be best friends with your coach but to "treat him like a stranger"? No thanks...

Marcus Smart hurt that Celtics have not spoken to him about new contract

And according to someone close to the Smart camp, who requested anonymity to comment on the situation, the Celts guard is frustrated with the lack of outreach from his team.

“He loves the Celtics, but with these crickets he’s hearing, he’s hurt and disgusted by it,” said the source.

Though fellow 2014 lottery alumnus Dante Exum signed an eye-opening three-year, $33 million contract with Utah, for the most part the market has been bearish for restricted free agents.
However, limited prospects aren’t the main issue behind Smart’s disillusionment.

“I don’t think that bothers Marcus as much as no communication from Danny (Ainge),” said the source.

Lets not forget there were already reports of Kyrie refusing to run Lue’s offense and fighting with him about not wanting to push the tempo either because Kyrie didn’t feel like it benefited HIS game. All this new stuff is just added on top of that. So it’s not like they just weren’t friends, he was also challenging his coaching ideals, and not in a constructive way.

Kyle O'Quinn signs with the Pacers. One year, $4.5m.

So he opted out and wound up with nearly the same salary that his option was.

The Pacers have made some really great moves this off-season.

Dwight has a track record that stretches back to 5 different teams in 5 years.

                              You’re better than this, now.

Well yeah, I'm not saying that he doesn't or that their track records are the same, I'm just saying it all starts somewhere. Kyrie may never have another situation where he dislikes his role, fit, coaches, etc again, doesn't mean his stand-offish towards his teammates, disagreement with coaches, and apparently bad relationship with ownership and the front office weren't problematic for the team.
