whats even more confusing is people trying to pretend melo is a good shooter..hasnt shot > 36% from 3 since 2013 ( 5 times ever ) and over 45% from the field since 2010 ( 7 times ever ) despite having the size/skilset/athleticism to EASILY have been a 48/38 guy for a good chunk of his career.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Well, any gym workout shots of him lately?
Bron has a whole crew with him
Dwight bricking free throws with a couple regular overweight regular guys with him
Jayson Tatum and Joel Embiid working out together....
Melo should be out there trying to prove yall wrongComment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
I think Melo is fine in Houston and not only that but would start. Just move Tucker to the primary defensive role Ariza had and call it a day. Sure Melo+Tucker is a step back from Ariza+Tucker on defense, but that's just another players teams have to guard. Melo at his worst isn't blowing as many wide open looks as Ariza did in the playoffs and he knows when to shoot/drive rather than having to awkardly second guess himself every time he catches the ball. Just having him on the floor give them an option that defense have to think about, dudes leave Ariza on an island, sometimes it burns them sometimes not. Against GS it did not and they win the game if he even hit his average from the field rather than going 0/9..
Ariza is a good defender, but giving up 30 a night to Durant regardless. Houston goes to this finals this year if they had Melo in place of Ariza IMO.Comment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
melo makes the rockets better only because ryan anderson belongs in the d league. problem is hes going to play the 3 probably which is arizas spot who fit the rockets scheme infinitely better than cant shoot, cant defend, iso joe 2.0
if melo cant play off the ball in OKC why would he be able to in houston? sure its an iso heavy offense which is what he loves but hes option 3 at best.
-just saw this stat... i thought the +4 was a typo for -4 as bad as melo was honestly
When Russell Westbrook and Paul George were on the court WITHOUT Carmelo Anthony, the Thunder had a +14.4 Net efficiency rating... When Melo joined Russ and PG, that number fell to +4.9Last edited by turty11; 07-10-2018, 06:09 PM.Comment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Man I’ve been saying it for years I just haven’t been here for all that time. Melo is not helpful to you if you want to win. At a time he was but now he’s just a scorer who doesn’t score much. I thought playing a lesser role in OKC would at least make him restructure his game to pass more, pay more attention on defense but they just got TrashMelo doing the same **** he always did without having anything like the same success.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Melo does nothing to help our team. People have given Harden crap for his defense over the years (and rightly so) but he's actually played average to good in the past 3 seasons or so. I can't see the same thing for Carmelo. Like sure, he can do the whole catch and shoot role (to an extent) but he isn't keeping anyone honest on the defensive end. Melo at his worst is an inefficient ISO scorer, who would struggle in our switching defense. Yeah Ariza gave up 30 or so to Durant but it's Durant. I'd rather give up 30 to Durant than have him dropping 50. I think you're vastly underestimating both our defensive and offensive identity. Our offense worked last year because Harden and Paul are cerebral playmakers. They would break down the defense with multiple pick and curl options happening at the same time. On defense we switched everything 1 through 5. Call me whatever you want, but I'm not exactly confident in Carmelo's ability to slot in. Maybe he proves me wrong, but everything we have seen of him from the past 3 or so years doesn't exactly make me hiddy with excitement.Indianapolis Colts

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
FA is only a week and half old people.
A week and a half. It’s not the end of the world for Houston if they don’t get Melo. He brings nothing that they don’t already have so if he’s not making them better than what they are, why bring him in? Especially knowing his history with D’Antoni?
Bringing him in for the sake of HOPING he’ll change does nothing. Unless you just want to have 3 guys just dribbling the air out of the ball on the court at the same time, lol.
It makes better sense to take a chance on one of their younger guys or someone with actual upside because let’s be real...Melo isn’t going to change who he is at this point. Not at 33-34 years old he’s not.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Considering we have essentially no cap space, I wouldn't mind taking a chance at James Ennis or Afflalo or other possible options at the vet minimum. Other than that, we have the guys we've been developing the past 2 or 3 season who have been showing solid play in Summer League (Hartenstein, Onuaku, Qi, Melton) so if at all possible they might be able to crack the rotation if they continue showing improvement. Things look bleak for us but they were always going to considering our cap situation. All we really have is the minimum and/or the MLE to work with to bring in new guys as well continuing to develop our young guys. We have done a great job in finding and developing talent whether it be with late picks or from overseas so we will find a way to get better, even if it doesn't look sexy at first or makes me upset as a fan.Comment

This is sad for the Warriors
Golden State Warriors head performance therapist Chelsea Lane confirmed Tuesday that she's leaving the organization to become the Atlanta Hawks' executive director of athletic performance and sports medicine.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
embiid is just a freak and legitimately could be the best player in the league in a year or 2. dont think hell ever hit the 4-5 APG mark you see from the other great passing bigs because of simmons though..but at the same time he can just by simply passing out of the post instead of forcing so many shots up when he doesnt really have a good shot like he kept doing vs boston in the playoffsComment

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Now if both Miami and Houston are offering like a 25-30 minute per game role and he opts for Miami simply because he'd technically be a starter there, then yeah, that would be pretty dumb, but we probably won't know the details of that even after he makes his decision.NFL: Bills

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
I think it's extremely unlikely that OKC trades him, but assuming they could find a taker, the trade would simply be about who gets to waive Melo. I don't think he'd care about using his No Trade Clause since he'd never play for the team that acquires him anyways.NFL: Bills
