Not sure if this is just a totally wild, out of thin air assumption or if he has some sort of inside source, but either way it sounds like it’d be a very smart move for the Raptors.

Spurs couldn’t get a deal with LA because they were very stubborn and wanted a lot more than LA could possibly give. Raptors on the other hand might be more negotiable with their trades.
Makes total sense honestly. Then move out Lowry next, they have their rebuild off to a good start with Van Vleet, OG, Ingram, be competitive enough this year but bad enough to still get a decent pick.

Seems like the Lakers might want to wait it out though.

Dont think the LA front office is dumb enough to go gut their roster to get kawhi. I know PG said he wanted to go to LA and ended up extending in OKC but hes got russ with him, and its not canada...also uncle dennis is a clown on the level of lavar ball (just in the background) and 50/50 could end up ruining kawhis career.

Yeah what the Spurs were rumored to be asking for was a bit ridiculous and there is no chance in hell the Lakers would have given up all of that. I wouldn't have done that trade for any one player in the league, much less one that just missed an entire season.

Ingram and some picks or something would be a good move for both sides, great move for the Lakers if it rids them of Deng's contract in the process because that gives the Lakers room for more moves after this season. Whether that's a 3rd "big 3" guy or building up a solid bench with 2 or 3 good role guys.

If they did ask for that it was because it was the Lakers and nothing less than that very reason.

Doubt they asked anyone else for that much.

But I'll wait to see what happens. The season will be fine either way but this situation is not done until kawhis pending free agency ends.

So this would be Toronto trading Kawhi before the season correct? Because again this makes no sense. Why would the Lakers trade for Kawhi and give up anything substantial to the Raptors knowing the dude has no intention of signing an extension with the Raptors and will be coming to them in the offseason?

The Raptors would have gotten a better return trading DD to any number of teams if the intention was to start a rebuild this year. I pray to god none of y'all on board with this logic ever get GM jobs. You're going to trade away a valuable asset that you'd have all the leverage in trade talks with for a piece that you literally have ZERO leverage with because you want to start a rebuild? It's absurd.

Would have to be before the season starts, at least I would think so. I don't know why they would make a trade at the deadline knowing they could wait just half a season and get him anyways. They would have to be playing some really awful basketball for that to happen, and I can't imagine this team being any worse than Cleveland last year so I doubt that'll be the case.

$50 says that he doesn’t end up in LA next season. That’s not me saying he’ll stay in Toronto either.

If it’s too much money for you high rollers, I’ll settle for something else.

That begs the question....is he even eligible to be traded before the season? Don't you have to wait 90 days before trading someone you just traded for? Or does the salary involved have something to do with it?

Luke Ridnour was traded 4 times in a week during the offseason (dont think recently traded for rules apply)

Yogi Ferrell has agreed to a 2-year, $5.3 million deal to return to the Dallas Mavericks according to Yahoo Sports.

                      Also from Yahoo,

Dirk Nowitzki and the Mavs plan to finalize a 1-year, $5 million deal.

My favorite trade ever was when POR traded Rasheed Wallace to ATL.
He played one game for ATL then was traded the next day to DET.
He scored 20 points in that one game he played for ATL.

Jabari Parker on contracts, from ESPN.

"I just stick to my strengths," he said on 670 The Score in Chicago Wednesday. "Look at everybody in the league. They don't pay players to play defense. There's only two people historically that play defense. I'm not going to say I won't, but to say that's a weakness is like saying that's everybody's weakness. Because I've scored 30 and 20 on a lot of guys that say they play defense."

I think there is some rule about it being maybe 30 or 60 days, I don't think it's as high as 90, but I think that's only if other players are packaged. Meaning that if it's Kawhi going out by himself there is no wait period. Don't quote me on that, because I'm only about 15% sure lol. All these rules for trades, contracts, etc seem different every year for every circumstance I can't keep up.

Saw this earlier. That doesn't inspire me with confidence lol. I've been saying while I'm okay with the moves the Bulls have made this summer, it still looks like they're putting together the worst defensive team of all time. Dunn, Carter, Hutchison and Lopez are like the only dudes that play D on the team right now and Lopez should be on the first thing smoking out of town before the deadline.
