Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
As one of those “whom are on OS” you don’t need to misrepresent the opinion as if we’re being hypocrites or something, because you’re a Raptors fan. Making a bad move or potentially franchise crippling move doesn’t necessarily have to align with our thought that they needed to make changes to the team after getting embarrassed in the playoffs yet again by LeBron. Especially when the biggest change they did make came AFTER their biggest hurdle in the postseason left the conference. With LeBron heading west, I wouldn’t have been opposed to them allow the current roster one more shot at a postseason run to see if they could finally overcome their demons with him gone. But if you’re going to still change the team once LeBron left, I thought making a move with Lowry was the smarter thing to do or if you were going to move DD, a move that would have given the franchise a better long term investment than the ultimate flight risk in the league would have been the better move than this.

The optics don't look good in some ways but from a clinical, cold analysis these were changes that need to happen. We will know if this gamble has paid off (whether Leonard stays for more than a year or not it doesn't matter. I'm talking performance on the court and team chemistry) by American Thanksgiving.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I personally don't see the point in the move the Raptors made. **** over Derozan. Sign a diva. Unless OG truly breaks out. Same team. They aren't getting past Boston. Milwaukee, Indiana, 76ers are equal if not better.
And you are putting all your eggs in the basket. Hoping Kawhi is still Kawhi. Even with a career year from Kawhi. How much better is Toronto?

Of course now that you bring it up Shams breaks;

Kawhi at his best makes the Raptors a prohibitive favorite in the East. Like I said we'll see how it all shakes out by US Thanksgiving.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

What's worse about Raptors this year VS last if Kawhi plays? They haven't decreased anywhere, and upgraded DeRozan for Kawhi. And then the young guys get better too,and an actual 3&D guy in Green added also.
And the big point I make about this deal is that Kawhi in playoffs is gonna be better than the guy people here have called "DeFrozen". The playoffs alone is where this trade could be best evaluated. Former finals MVP and guy who improved in each playoffs he was in, or a guy known for choking year after year?
Kawhi could miss entire regular season, return for playoffs and take them to NBA finals and I'd call that a good trade.Comment

Kawhi getting 100% back to that one year he had 2 seasons ago I still don’t see them for sure beating the teams you listed. If they slip to 4 or 5 I think whichever of those teams are the other could realistically knock them out in the first round.. and then they’ll lose Kawhi for nothing.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Raptors can't beat Indy or Milwaukee? Bucks were a 7th seed last year, and they lost to a team that lost to a one-man LeBron squad. But I guess since we're basically in regular season mode we're gonna do the Giannis hype thing again.Comment

I think it's an obvious move for them. I don't think much of Derozan... It's not like they didn't give it time.Last edited by BleacherBum2310; 07-21-2018, 07:12 PM.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

OG breaking out is a hope of theirs. Doesn't mean this year, but soon. People have saying he could be THE steal of that draft.

Then they need to be drug tested and banned from basketball talk forever. How’s he going to be the steal of a draft that Tatum, Mitchell, Markkanen and Kuzma all failed to go number 1 in and only one of them went top 3? Just because people say something doesn’t make it a credible statement.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Mitchell wasn’t even taken in the top 10.. any argument for someone other than him being the steal of the draft is a poor one.

Re: 2018 Off-Season Thread
Mitchell was the 2nd to last lottery pick and was arguably the best player from this draft last season, I'll you debate him or Tatum on your own time. There is no bigger steal than Mitchell in that draft.Comment
