Never heard any talk of him being a cancer or a bad teammate last year or even in NY.

But based on these comments and his comments to Jemele Hill, that tells me he still doesn’t get it or refuses to get it.

Melo has always lacked self-awareness. His teammates always defended him; he has respect from his peers despite his reputation with fans/media. I'm trying to think of a moment where a teammate called him out directly in NY and I'm drawing a blank.

His shortcomings are plain as day to those who know the game plus he's been washed up since the knee surgery. A tiger doesn't change his stripes, especially 15 years into his career; we aren't going to see "Pissed Off Melo" this year. He still has all his shortcomings (ball stopper, poor shot selection, lazy help defense) in addition to having no legs and a less reliable jumper while struggling to get to the FT line or finish inside.

I mean, do you know for a fact that they didn't ask him to be a 6th man and he flat said no?

Poor D'Antoni. Only Melo can tell him when he's a sixth man.

Also, is it not insulting to the bench guys in the league for Melo to say the reason he doesn't belong in that role is because he "knows how to play the game of basketball."

At least since he doesn't hear his haters, he won't notice the laughs coming from that statement.

If they read the rest of the statement, I don't think they'd be insulted. That's not the implication behind what he said.

I remember two seasons ago at the deadline and draft when folks here and elsewhere wanted Danny Ainge to unload all his trade capital for Melo. Same folks that wanted him to max out Serge Ibaka.

              LOL, good times.

If it was Knicks fans, you know why.

I'm still trying to grasp a season with no Isola covering the team. We might actually be able to go under the radar and get ignored the way a team as bad as us should be, just the hope is refreshing.

                      *Looks at team location*

                      Negative there, my friend.

It’ll last for a year and then as we get closer to next offseason, they’ll start getting gassed up as a threat in FA even if they’re god awful trash because...NY.

They’re already doing it now with this Kyrie/Jimmy teaming up deal in NY.

The Knicks could assign their whole operation to the G league and they’d still get huge coverage and a Christmas game.

Gotta remember, it's been 4 years since LeBron left NY to return to Cleveland.
