Klay's going to be financially secure regardless. It may not be so much about getting paid the max as opposed to if they offer it. As one of the OG's there, a guy with a lot of pride and possibly coming off a 3 peat....it honestly would give me zero shock if he explored his options...

Again, I'm not making this some LeBron only thing.. Shocker that's how it was taken lol. Those teams aren't the Lakers, and likewise these reports weren't coming out for anti-Laker stuff before LeBron either. I was suggesting Lakers+LeBron= teams not wanting that to go well for them.

It's the fact that Magic Johnson was going around and trying to poach other teams stars while they were still under contract with other teams.

The Cavs nor Heat were openly tampering like Magic was all season. They tried to will an AD trade into existence.

Also, a large part of people not wanting to go to the Lakers in free agency is that the Lakers aren't very good, LeBron is hard to play with and he's nearing the end of his prime. They put all their eggs, and are continuing to put all their eggs, in the LeBron basket.

Ty Lue is a terrible X's and O's coach. Dude couldn't last 10 games in Cleveland with LeBron. The only thing he was good at was managing egos and having 3 HoF players. Unless Kyrie is going to LA (he's not) or they are trading for Kevin Love (maybe?) I wouldn't expect Lue to have any success.

Rumors floating around that Frank Vogel could be Lue's lead assistant for the Lakers...that would be a huge get for LA, especially after the garbage assistants Walton had on his staff.

I'm not one who is on the "Walton's assistants were garbage" bandwagon, especially since the roster construction did none of the coaches on that team any favors, but Vogel would be a great get, IMO.

LeBron's camp has apparently reached out to Thibs to gauge his interest in being a top assistant in LA.

Cue the LeCoach/LeGM jokes sure, but I'm very intrigued by a coaching staff of Lue, Vogel, and Thibs.

Interesting... I don't know what Thibs brings to the table at this point. I understand he likes defense, but they are likely a switching team as long as Lonzo-Ingram-Bron are on the floor, that and Thibs approach seems a bit dated watching him with Minny.

Wonder if that means interest from Jimmy Butler? Maxing him isn't getting them anywhere unless one of those young dudes takes a massive leap forward, or all 3,4 of them take big leaps.

I do really like Vogel, and really feel like Lue is more of an assistant coach but he's got that Doc Rivers "player coach" vibe, so if the player respond best to him I get it. But to me Vogel is pretty proven if he has talent.

Still wonder what Lue looks like X's and O's wise with a good, healthy core. I feel like he had a good feel for some stuff when Kyrie wouldn't buy in to the tempo, and actually won a few adjustment battles against Kerr in the finals. He just doesn't seem very strong on the fly..Tempo thing is ideal for Lonzo and BI.. Was tough to tell that last year for him with the turnover and injuries, and apparently they weren't practicing much either for the new pieces to adjust.

I'm actually a bit surprised Pelinka is still their guy, esp after "reports" that other teams don't like him and are hesitant to work with him... Seems like all new everything that had some sort of vision would have been the best option.
