This bump would’ve made more sense a year from now.

But we at least know the answer to the first question of this thread.

Well the Bucks definitely got better but we all thought that the ECF runner-up team was the team to beat because they were adding Kyrie + Hayward to that team.

And Kyrie was awful this series and he was a distraction all season long with his "leadership". So those who would favor them being better without Kyrie have a much stronger case now.

When all the talking heads and Celtics fans start talking about how bad of a leader Kyrie was, just remember who said it first

It's okay Kyrie, you and Bron belong together. Time to reunite =).

They wouldn't be better without him, but Kyrie being THE guy, taking all the shots every game is not the answer on any team.

I dont known on Paper Boston has a championship contender type of talent but of course only one team can win the championship ever year. Hayward never getting back to being like close to all star level hurt them a lot though, and like I said only one team can win the championship ever year. But the thing is that they didn't even get close. It would be one thing if they got to like the finals and lost, or even the Easter conference finals and lost in like a hard 6-7 games. But they lost pretty easily and only in the second round.

... if they lose him for nothing after this season the answer to this becomes a huge yes by default.

The question can’t honestly be answered until next year if he’s gone. Because if he’s gone and they have a worse year, are y’all going to be saying “Welp, I guess they should’ve kept him since they were better last year”?

                  Of course not.

Who know if next year would even answer that question...Teams are going to get better. Him coming may have thrown a wrench in the machine and possibly delayed what could have been as far as chemistry and development if they never brought him in to begin with. I don’t see them losing Kyrie and having a better year than they had this year unless they can pick up where they left off when they didn’t have him and Hayward...

Re: Would the Celtics be a Better Team if they moved Kyrie?

There's no doubt that this years youngins pretty much all regressed from 17/18. Brown, Tatum, and Rozier all looked like some of the best young players in the NBA late in 17/18 and in the playoffs. Then this year Brown starts off slow but eventually had a solid year, Tatum was okay but never really took a step forward and Rozier turned into trash. Hell, Tatum and Rozier weren't even playable against the Bucks. What caused them to take that step back? Kyrie, Hayward, Chemistry, the rotation, not getting "their minutes/shots", etc. ?

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. I mean Kyrie or Brad or their feeling or whatever did not cause them to miss open shots and do stupid **** and their NBA players for goodness' sake... when you're number is called you have to be ready. Whether you're getting 10-15 shots a game or 1-5... And you know what if you actually made most of those shots then maybe you would see more minutes.

                      /rant

As for the question, ProfessaPackMan is right. It's going to take not having Kyrie there to see how or even if he was part of the problem. All I can say is that for years after the "Big 3" all Boston fans wanted was a superstar. Then, we finally get one and he's the problem. It's a weird situation, man.

I have to say that I absolutely want Kyrie back. Whether we run it back or shake things up, I really hope that if he comes back the team learn from this, grows and gets some damn fight back. However, if he does jet, then I don't think I will be as butthurt after this as I would have been a few months ago. I'll still be a little upset (especially if he joins a super team) but I'd be excited to see if the youngins can get back to where they were before.

But see the media can't get a full news cycle out of that sort of rational discussion. It's gotta be a panel of former players and columnists talking matter-of-factly out of their *** about drama and Kyrie.

Well technically the question can't be answered at all. If they would have moved Kyrie there would have been some type of return. If he just leaves at the end of the season they won't be able to afford whatever his return would have been otherwise in a trade. The whole idea of moving him was never him just simply being gone, it was considering that you would get a big return for him.
