If anyone was going to do it it'd be Harden since he goes through stretches where he passes up open layups to go seek contact. I've never seen a player try to get to the FT the way Harden does and I hope I never see anyone else do it his way.
Jordan had his own ways of getting some questionable whistles as well. Especially when verticality wasn't quite called the same way it is now. Plenty of instances where Jordan would turn around completely backwards and toss the ball over his shoulder while HE is hitting the defender with his back. But at least in those instances he is forcing the defender to react to his contact and in most cases ends up a bang bang play. To me that's not much different than Bron forcing defenders contact with his shoulder.

But Harden is a whole different level. In most cases he isn't forcing the defender to make any sort of contact on him, rather he just thrusts his limbs into the defender who otherwise is often doing nothing out of the ordinary. Nothing would make me happier than to see them just start racking up offensive fouls in those instances. It's the complete opposite of typical basketball. Rather than a defender swiping at the ball the shooter is swiping the ball at the defender. It's almost comical at times.

It hilarious seeing the Lakers tuck their hands on defense...the Spurs did the same thing against Houston in the playoffs after Harden lived at the line Game 1...

My mind melts just thinking about it. When I look at Jordan. He played the game hard. And he got actually fouled HARD. Harden it just blows my mind.

hahaha that's so terrible.... I blame Desmond Mason. He showed Durant and Durant passed that BS to Harden. Durant has stopped (it was the rip thur move). But Harden made a whole thing around it.

Harden is a powerhouse driver and a lefty to boot which makes him a very tough cover. He will use an explosive left to right cross over move to penetrate the lane and his last step is long and very tricky (he flummoxed Tyson Chandler on this move). Strong enough to get blasted at the basket and still convert. When dribble dancing on the perimeter Harden will shoot off a step back from out to 30 feet. He 'floats' on his release and draw numerous fouls this way. Defenders are advised to let him fire away as he is erratic from way out there.

His pass work is exceptional showing appropriate touch and tempo on a variety of passes. He is very creative dropping dimes to his bigs in the shadow of the rim. At times, he can get into trouble over penetrating and getting stuck in the air which leads to turnovers. For the season he is averaging 5.7 TOs per game. This number is unacceptable.

Houston presents Harden with high and double high screens to play with and back screens to move off of. When the Beard gets the ball on the move he is even tougher to plot against.

On defense he is mostly passive looking to switch at all crosses. He got pierced for 11 points in man to man confrontations against the Lakers. His offensive burden is heavy but you would still like to see him step up the intensity on D.

The way he is refereed. Yes, he gets the benefit of the doubt on most bang bang calls. He takes full advantage of his superstar status granted by the refs but this is nothing new in the NBA.

For the LA game he scored 50 points but the last six were mostly superfluous so lets credit him with 44 meaningful points. His assists created 24 points. Dock him 11 points on the defensive end. His five turnovers cost Houston about five points since NBA teams average about 1.1 points per possession. Overall he was a plus 52 for the game. This is more meaningful (to me) than his +14 in the plus/minus stats.

A great performance from a great player.

Dinwiddie showing folks why he got that contract. 4 straight wins for Biggie’s Boys.

And I love me some Joe Harris.

The Washington Wizards are in advanced talks on a deal to acquire Phoenix forward Trevor Ariza, league sources tell ESPN. Teams trying to finalize a multi-team trade tonight.

They must’ve figured that they weren’t going to give Oubre a new contract at the end of the season.

Surprised they gave up on Rivers so soon.

                                Ernie still gotta go though.
