Re: OK I need to see some numbers on who likes what
I've got 2k3 and I like it, haven't given gotten to try Live yet, although from what I've read about it sounds pretty intriguing so I'll have to rent that to give it a try. But no on play for Live on X-box made me decide to not even consider buying it. Hopefully MS and EA get this onine mess figured out for next year.Twitter:@Fetter21

I returned 2K3 for Live 2003.
That was the best move I made since I returned NFL2K3 for Madden 2003.
Here's to hoping NHL2K3 can thwart the trifecta.im on ur pitch tacklin ur d00dz

Re: OK I need to see some numbers on who likes what
Why bother?
It seems the trend for this year's games is clear. VC is trying to make the most realistic sim experience regardless of what that does to the "fun" factor, while EA is trying to make sim games that allow people to produce more of the plays you see highlights of.
Nothing wrong with either approach but if you clearly like Madden better AND like Live better then why even bother with NHL2k3, just get NHL2003. That's the style you prefer.Comment

Because last year, NHL2K2 was better than NHL2002. Last year, NBA2K2 was better than Live.
You never know what can happen from year to year.
I haven't enjoyed EA's NHL in quite some time. 2K2 was a wonderful change of pace.im on ur pitch tacklin ur d00dz

Nba live's style in regards to a basketball game, is totally different in the regards that Madden has to football games.
Each company produces both styles. You just never know which sport will be the one for you. Maybe EA and VC are working together here?Comment

Re: OK I need to see some numbers on who likes what
Chitown, I understand that but at least for Live last year it sucked. This year all the games appear to be close and you can't really seem to go wrong just picking the one that suites you best.
BTW, Madden takes the same approach as Live it's just that football is different than basketball. Madden sped the game up, rewards long passes and big runs. It's still sim, and like Live I'm sure, stepping up the D can keep it from getting out of hand, but both games are best for players that want to just throw a game in and talk smack with the boys. Both VC games take practice to get the game to feel smooth when playing and there's much more thinking involved. I'm not knocking either approach but it's becoming clear what the companies approaches for sports games are.Comment

I think Madden is more sim than 2K3. That's why I have Madden and not 2K3. I prefer sim. But I also like clean graphics and presentation. That's why I have Madden. And that's why I prefer Live this year They both have great gameplay AND presentation.im on ur pitch tacklin ur d00dz

I have both(Live and Nba2k3) also. I'd give the edge to Live, simply because that was the first one I purchased out of the two. Since I bought and played Live first, I'm more into it than 2k3 right now."Your character is who you really are, your reputation is what you're perceived to be by others" - John Wooden(former UCLA head coach)Comment

I certainly don't want to get into a madden vs 2k3 debate in this forum (or at all after all the ones in the football forum). Both games are "sim" just like both basketball games are to a degree. Madden's approach at sim is much more visual though while 2k3's is much more strategical. The basketball games seem to take the same approach.Comment

What??? Not to get into this debate, but in 2k3 all the CPU does is break long runs and completes bombs, and your defenseless to stop it.
Having bought 2k3 and played Live, Live is better overall. The sim aspect is more apparent with 2k3, but the over presence is with Live. When you do your thing in Live, is because youve actually done it yourself, in 2k3, it seems that the CPU is just playin the %s.
The animations and cinematics are just better in Live. I find myself still complaining about the same animation miscuses that were in 2k1 (the ball above the hand while crossing over, or the player interaction with the rim).
In the end though, its what you like. And of course, some fanboy is going to say "Well the real hardcore gamers want this or that". Real hardcore gamers play the games they get the most out of. One thing though, I hate to bring this up, but from a source i have in the industry (Works for a distributor). Live is out selling 2k3 3:1, where he works, they sold out of Live for Ps2 and Xbox (about 80,000 copies) while they have most of their intial shipment of 2k3. He said they still had some Live for GC, but that was to be expected.Vi Veri Universum Vivus Vici
