Mavs at it again with 41 point 1st qtr with 8 dunks

Man the Celtics just stepped into a buzzsaw similiar to the what the Knicks felt last week against Dallas. Erick Dampier scored 10 of the Mavs first 12 points all on dunks. At this pace the Mavs could score 70+ first half points again.

They're both veeeeery overrated IMO. The Suns moreso then Dallas as the Mavs actually have some defense this year. I'm willing to wager that the Suns will be out of the playoffs no later then the 2nd round. Now I know on paper that sounds harsh but just look at the style of play that they employ and the heavy minutes the starters get. If they continue to keep riding the starters and playing this frenetic style then they could very well be upset in the playoffs because of players being fatigued and the lack of a good bench.

Of course this could turn into a asianflow like prediction but i'll take the risk.

I don't know Sport...The Suns' style alleviates alot of the grinding and pyhisical abuse that wears a team down. Their style is no more tiring over the long haul than say a Piston teams' rough and tumble, grabbing and bumping style...

I've also been impressed with the way the Suns have been able to consistently stay in games when things are going poorly...When a team can put up 15-20 points in a 3 minute stretch at any given time, their never out of it. The Seattle game was a great example. They took Seattle's best punches, and just when you thought it was over...one flurry and they're up again. That can take the heart out of an opponent, especially in a 7-game series.

They've got 3 good defenders in their rotation (Amare, matrix and JJ) and unlike most high-scoring, run & gun teams, they don't lack toughness.

I think that when you have the luxury of a great scorer like Q Rich shooting 38%.. but you're still the best team in the league...You've got something special.

The Celtics really need to learn to play defense together. It's really bad to watch them try and rotate and just let guys run to the basket completely free for easy layups (or dunks).

HMcCoy you could be right in the end however the playoffs is a different animal altogether. The Suns may be forced to play a more halfcourt based style and put up more jumpshots then usual. Like I said I wouldn't be surprised if they're upset early on but right now they're playing on a higher level then everybody else.

We'll just have to wait and see.

I don't think Dallas is overated. They have improved defensively big time with Damps in the middle and Howard, Daniels and Terry on the wings. In fact they rank in the top 5 in defensive fg %, steals and rebounds. They have transformed this team from an offensive juggernaut to a more conventional NBA playoff team. They are still capable of lighting it up offensively but they are taking the defensive approach much more serious now then in the past 3-5 years.

A prime example is their road record this year which is 10-4 so far after their subpar 16-25 record last year. They couldn't defend on the road and it hurt them last year but this year they are making defensive stops.
